I'd never trade Reinhart for Trouba either or pretty much anyone to be frank..
But I think Trouba would easily be the number 2 defenceman here. Read today via Mckenzie that Jets planned on putting him on Left side this year because of Myers and Big Buff on the right. This way he can play top 4 for them. I don't think we really have a trade asset for them.. Maybe Ennis + but I doubt it. A top four of
Trouba Risto
Kulikov Bogosian
Would be awesome though - bluengold12
I thought trouba wanted to play on the right side in a top-four role and that's basically what this is all about

He want's top four. Winnipeg's solution was to move him to the left. If he can do that there why not here? Of course he'd start on 2nd line over Bogosian anyway on the ride side but using him on the left in the top line in this hypothetical would be even better.
The Sabres need a lot of D help IMO. However, not at the expense of trading Reinhart or a top 6 foward. Hopefully Guhle can step up, but I think he still needs a year to mature before he steps into the NHL. - mattsox
This is my feeling exactly. Trading any of our top 6 would create a larger hole for us, then helping by getting another top 4 d.

Trouba insists this has nothing to do with city/organization. Says Jets are deep right side D and he feels there's a better fit elsewhere

Trouba: "I didn't want it to get to this point. To not play is not what I want. This has nothing to do with money...it never has."

Just spoke with Jacob Trouba. He says trade request is purely about opportunity. He feels he's best on the right side...

If Trouba were to be traded here, hypothetically, he would be better than any defenseman on this team not named Rasmus Ristolainen. You play him on the right side where he wants, even if that puts Bogosian on the third pairing.

He doesn't have a contract. Why would he report? - HonkFortheGoose
There's nothing in the rules that says he can't. He wouldn't be anywhere near the first RFA to come to camp without a deal , though that is usually an indicator that the two sides are close.
That said, I'm not holding it against him in any way.

I would rather he be in camp, but I don't know that he can participate without a contract. Seems if something were to happen to him during practice that it would be a huge liability. Just from a legality standpoint, it doesn't seem like something that should happen.

He hates the city of Winnipeg IMO.
He is playing 22 min a night. That's top 4 minutes

this falls on Murray IMO
no reason to drag it out - homiedclown
It takes two (three if you count the agent) to get a contract signed. The team has to offer something the player/agent likes. If they don't, then they don't sign.
We don't know what Risto's demands are. What if he's asking for $7MM+ a year and Murray said no? Is that Murray's fault?

Always....
"Unsigned RFA defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has not reported to Sabres training camp yet. Ristolainen will have to get his new contract finalized before he can skate in scrimmages and in exhibition games. I expect Ristolainen to sign his new deal in the coming days. The big Finn is seeking a 6-7 year contract extension in the $6M to $6.5M AAV range.
According to Garth... But somehow I think he just made those numbers up in his head.

Risto's negotiating position is very unique. On paper, he has absolutely no reason to ask for more than what Morgan Rielly got. The problem for Murray is the next best righty after him is Bogosian and TM only has 1 year left on his deal so he can't exactly let this drag into the season and watch the team drop points early on as a result of the best d-man not being in the lineup. Risto will win unless he gets dealt.
