if that's the case, they would have been better off IMO keeping Saad
- homiedclown

I don't think Saad is a 75-85 point player though. I would gladly pay the extra $2 million for the extra 30ish points

Still would love to get Hjalmarsson from them somehow....
- HonkFortheGoose

Hjalmarsson is somebody who’s been very vicious to me. I said very tough things to him, and I think everybody would agree that he deserves it and nobody feels sorry for him

IMO the hawks will have to either move him or crawford after this season

gotta think they are going to expose crawford at the expansion draft

he put up 31 goals for the blue jackets last year

imagine what he would have done on the hawks top line

He has to know he won't get that in Chicago...

If it is true he might as well just be demanding a trade right?

- RhinoFan

Not necessarily. But at the same time, why shouldn't he demand that? It'll be interesting to see how he does this year. We've seen guys have a good year and then disappear, so it's possible that happens again this year. Though so long as he's riding shotgun with Kane, that probably won't happen.

Until we have a Keith-Seabrook pairing that's the way it should be IMO.

If our biggest concern is our 3rd pairing then I think we are in good shape, but currently it is not our biggest concern.

- Stripes77

I like Gorges better than Franson. I'd rather have a 3rd pairing of Gorges-Guhle or Gorges-Nelson. That being said, if the 3rd pairing is Gorges-Franson it's not the end of the world. With Gorges in the top 2 pairing we had the 16th best D in terms of GA. Playing him as a 3rd pairing shouldn't hurt us more than it did last year.

Team has holes but it also has potential. I think we'll do alright.

opening lineup will tell a lot for this situation

drop him down a line, and his numbers become a fraction of what they were last year

Saad has experience, but it’s bad experience. … This franchise can’t afford to have another four years of that kind of experience.

So the NHL is doing it's 100 greatest players since this is their centennial season. How many Sabres if any?

Maybe, maybe not. I do think that a part of why he was so productive is Kane. Dropping him a line would be interesting because technically Kane's line is #2 there. So if you drop Paranin a line, that puts him on the 3rd line, which typically is used more for defensive purposes while chipping in some offensively. I think you'd be more likely to see him bounce between line 1 and 2 than you would between 2 and 3.

yeah I meant play him on the non kane line

then stats dip a bit, more leverage for long term deal and go back to plug and play

if he starts the year with kane, my guess is they expect to pay him

The Hawks have many gorgeous goalies, from many different countries, Europe, and other great places. The Hawks take advantage of the laws of the nation because they are running a company. If the NHL wants to change the expansion laws, they can, they have been there a while.

I think your strongest asset maybe by far is your temperament. You have a winning temperament.
