Watched the game a 2nd time...this time focusing on Lehner and not the play in the D Zone.
His stops/starts seem very crisp (ankle seems fine), but I noticed two things:
I think he is using a different paddle on his stick, the length seems much less than years past. I can't verify it, but interesting if he is tweaking his stance perhaps.
Also he looks good. In particular his rebound control was great...pucks went to corners, not much left sitting in front. I'm excited that he'll be able to do play 55 games WELL, without falling apart..
I think he'll be the back we ride to the playoffs. *Hides* |

Growing up, I talked to a priest once who said the answer to any question you can think of is Jesus Christ.
I have an engineer friend who told me any question can be answered with mathematics.
Some hockey folks insist any question can be answered with analytics.
Who is correct?
I just like watching hockey. |

This could be a great underground marketing campaign idea for the new "It" movie that's supposed to be coming out next year - jdfitz77
There was speculation that it was for a Rob Zombie movie that just came out. |

Well... That priest probably liked to (frank) kids, so his judgement is probably flawed.
And analytics is just applied math, so... |

He could've, maybe, made a save on the second goal, but it would've been a save of the year candidate, but the first one he had no chance on. The puck going off of a guy's head and going straight 5-hole is something that's just one of those things. He had no idea it even went by him until a second after. |

a younger teppo, agreed
risto currently is better than the teppo we had, not even close - homiedclown
I think Risto has 20 goal potential. As long as he sees top PP time. Maybe not this year, but he's got it in him. That game against Calgary alone shows he's got it in him. |

Ruff benched him for a week
then the kid came out like a bull in a china shop
8 points in 3 games I think, and was nhl second star for the week |

The one year here he was the best defenseman for the last half of the season. It may have been his last here, I try and block out the last 5 or so years. "Meyers" was foundering, and nobody else stepped up, and you just noticed Sekera every time he was out there, for good things. I mean his 4' pass could use some work, he wasn't in Pysyk's class, let's not get crazy, but that was always a curious trade to me. |

best show on network tv, by far - homiedclown
I liked the first season a lot, but have kind of drifted away from it. I don't really watch much network TV. I do still like Elementary though.
I'm watching Longmire again. They just released season 5 on Netflix. It was originally on A&E I believe? for 3 seasons then Netflix picked up a season 4 last year and just released season 5 last week. It's kind of like Justified, but a bit more serious, ok it's not really like Justified at all except in that both main characters wear cowboy hats and are in law enforcement. Longmire takes place in present day Wyoming and is about the Sheriff of "Absaroka" county whose name is Walt Longmire, which is just about the best made up name I've ever heard. It's a really good show. All the seasons are on Netflix and are about 10 episodes a season. Plus Katee Sackhoff is in it for any Battlestar Galactica nerds out there. |
