Same, rivalries are always better when both teams are good.
Over the next few years, it should really ramp up.
Is Lehner healthy yet? - WingmanWillie
He is. And he's down 40 lbs. I didn't get to see the Ottawa game Tuesday, but he played the full 60+ mins and got the W. 2 goals on 39 shots I believe and it sounded like neither were goals he could do anything about.
He had a .924 sv% in 21 games last year with the wonky ankle, so I hope his numbers can be even better this year. |

Either way they'd be doing us a favour. The amount a succesful offer sheet would take would give us the luxury of having enough assets to go trade for someone, or two somebodys. - Sabresfan-365
I'd be awfully tempting to spend that currency, like it was burning a hole in our pockets, but would the wise move be to hold on to it for at least a little while, if that were to happen? |

I'm probably one of the few people that didn't hate that trade around here. He actually stayed in Buffalo all offseason. Worked on rehabbing the ankle and just becoming a healthier person overall. Cut his hair and shaved his beard and everything. It's a whole new Lehner. I just hope he doesn't lose all of his fiery personality as well. That's a big part of what I like about him, so long as he doesn't get out of control. |

no money to offer sheet kuch - homiedclown
We could easily offer sheet Kucherov
Guys like Franson, Gorges & Foligno can all be traded & replaced w young guys of cheap UFAs
Why do u say there's no money? |

honestly, you do nothing but tell them this is the best we can do long term and thus work on a bridge while leaving the long term on the table
if you cave on risto, then you have eichel, lehner, reinhart, larsson and girgens seeing this and will thus wait for more money - homiedclown
Yeah, it's never about just one player. The players on your team and FAs that might want to come here also know they can just say "fine, I'll just go to Toronto instead." and know you'll cave.
I think it's a somewhat good sign that Risto was back on the ice at practice. |

He was definitely the guy I wanted out of the group that was bandied about, but I was a little leery on the price. Still am somewhat. The talent is clearly there, plus he's a madman and the team needs some fire. |

Disagree
Not that we'd get anything back for them...
But we'd be looking for the Cap room,
Not a quality return
If a guy like Kucherov wants to sign an offer sheet here,
U figure out the Cap
It's not like it's some huge amount we'd have to figure out
I believe it could be done fairly easily |

Agree
If they were really "far off" then I doubt he'd be here
Something around 5.5m
Supposedly the Sabres low balled at 4.5m & Risto's agent Wants 6.5m
It's so annoying that these games have to be played
The other contract of similar good young defensemen have established his value & what the basic contract parameters should be
Just split the difference & call it a day
And then go offer sheet Kucherov!!!
Hahaha |

I agree with Fitz that guys like Gorges and Franson can be traded away...just very small returns if any (I don't think anyone other than AZ would consider Moulson and Foligno isn't all that much savings)...but that would be much more difficult than simply having the money to play with.
Question: Do you regret signing Okposo if you knew you could get an accepted OS for Kucherov? |

U just said u agree that we could trade guys to make room for Kucherov
So we can have both & don't have to choose 1 or the other |

Why would they? They got Chychrun plus they don't have to actually pay Datsyuk for taking on Datsyuk's hit. What do we have to offer for them taking on Moulson? |

I don't think anyone would take Moulson
Maybe next offseason if he can score 20g this year
But that's probably not gonna happen |
