He is. And he's down 40 lbs. I didn't get to see the Ottawa game Tuesday, but he played the full 60+ mins and got the W. 2 goals on 39 shots I believe and it sounded like neither were goals he could do anything about.

He had a .924 sv% in 21 games last year with the wonky ankle, so I hope his numbers can be even better this year.

Either way they'd be doing us a favour. The amount a succesful offer sheet would take would give us the luxury of having enough assets to go trade for someone, or two somebodys.

I'm probably one of the few people that didn't hate that trade around here. He actually stayed in Buffalo all offseason. Worked on rehabbing the ankle and just becoming a healthier person overall. Cut his hair and shaved his beard and everything. It's a whole new Lehner. I just hope he doesn't lose all of his fiery personality as well. That's a big part of what I like about him, so long as he doesn't get out of control.

honestly, you do nothing but tell them this is the best we can do long term and thus work on a bridge while leaving the long term on the table

if you cave on risto, then you have eichel, lehner, reinhart, larsson and girgens seeing this and will thus wait for more money

He was definitely the guy I wanted out of the group that was bandied about, but I was a little leery on the price. Still am somewhat. The talent is clearly there, plus he's a madman and the team needs some fire.
