With Matthews coming in and the possibility of Nylander and/or Marner making the lineup, the Leafs will definitely be a much more fun team to watch, but their defense is still pretty terrible. They will probably resemble the Oilers from the past few years.
I give the Leafs one more season before their a bubble team, then should start seeing them compete every year for the playoffs. This is of course barring any major moves to bolster their D.
I think from next year forward, you'll see FLA, TAM, BUF and TOR leading the pack in the Atlantic for the next three or four years. |

It's funny that Toronto produces more hockey fans, more hockey players, more coaches, more everything, gets more coverage, has more publications, is basically the hockey centre of the world.
And somehow, fans of a team like Buffalo, who have no credible history, don't produce players, media, have little to no minor league hockey base, are basically a dump of a city, somehow think they can make comments like that. - prock
Yeah no players come out of Buffalo.... You know the greatest American player of all time isn't from here or anything. top scouts for the NHL reside in Buffalo, why would they do that? Cities from all over the country are sending reps here to copy canalside, but its a dump. And we have the best ratings in the NHL even though our team has sucked for 10 years... but yeah a guy from Nashville can comment on hockey..... RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTT |

You have to love what Buffalo means to hockey. Yes, LaFontaine came out of there, but by-and-large Buffalo hasn't made a lot of noise in the NHL, they're a small-market team yet they have ZERO problem keeping their team. That says a lot! Their fans are loyal and keep hockey going in the NHL.
Their day is coming and deservedly so. |

Either way, let's be honest.
You could take all players from Toronto (GTA), CURRENTLY playing in the NHL.
Then take all players from Buffalo, in the entire history of the NHL.
I bet the players currently playing, from Toronto, have more points, more trophies, more Stanley Cups, to their name, than the players, in the entire history of the NHL, from Buffalo.
You are but a fart to us. |

Just the guy who started by suggesting that Toronto is full of idiots that have no idea about hockey. Which, I'm pointing out, is absurd. There is more hockey played in Toronto, more players, more anything, in Toronto, than anywhere else int he world.
So the suggestion is sheer idiocy. |

Honestly, what NHL players have ever come from Buffalo, other than Pat Kane? |

well, yeah, and obviously that's not a great list, for Buffalo.
I said GTA though. Including the suburbs. I'm sure Buffalo has some suburbs too. Cheektowaga? I remember hearing that in the news when I was younger, when channel 29 used to show some of the better shows. If you didn't change the channel, and the news came on - "There was a fire in Cheektowaga tonight, three houses burnt down. In other news, there was a fire tonight in Tonawanda, 7 houses burnt down." I could never understand why there were so many fires in these places. Anyway, include those places.
Because Brampton, Richmond Hill, Markham, Oshawa, Pickering, Mississauga, all GTA.
I could go on. I don't know which D - Giordano, Brent Burns, Pietrangelo, Tanev, Subban. Dougie Hamilton.
It's funny, you get some of the Quebec people talking about making a Team Quebec (they like separatist talk), if you were to separate out Team Toronto from Team Canada, it would be a close game. The team would certainly murder Team Quebec, that's for sure. |

OK, I had to read your comment a few times, to determine whether or not it was written in English. Still unsure, but I think I got the gist of it. I hope you're either 7 years old, or just moved here from Kazakhstan
Moving on...
Rielly is superior to Risto in all ways. All of them. Every single one
Zaitsev was leveraged as a top-pairing defender for Team Russia in the World Cup. He was far more valuable than Kulikov, and will continue to be so in the NHL. Better player all-around
You do understand why Matthews was chosen to play on the top line with McDavid, right? It wasn't due to "chemistry". They'd been playing on separate lines, so there was no way to accurately determine any pre-existing chemistry. Matthews was outplaying Eichel severely, so they promoted him. He should easily surpass Eichel's numbers from his first year. Eichel wasn't even nominated for the Calder as a rookie. Matthews is the projected favourite
Buffalo has a few nice pieces up front, but a lot of dead weight too. Lehner is a back-up goalie, and the defense is awful. Last place in the Atlantic. Sorry - AxlRose91
Personally I heard Yakov Smirnov's voice in my head while reading it...
Also, what are you on about? He finished 4th, he wasn't a finalist, but he was certainly nominated. There's no McDavid or Panarin this year, likely neither is their a Gostisbehere. Without any of the 3 Eichel was a finalist, he was 4th. Who is there this year? Werenski? Wow, some crazy competition. I'm sure someone will come out of nowhere, but the talent level of rookies this year pales in comparison to last year. Domi deserved a serious look last year and he was practically an afterthought.

Hey, they forgot about Lee Stempniak! He's from West Seneca I think. That's definitely Buffalo. I feel like there's someone else that got left off that list. |
