I never said a word about the former coach of this franchise at all, or the Bills until it was brought up by someone else. Balk. I will now advance to second.
A lot of bad teams have better records in the 2nd half than the first. The pressure's not there and they face back up goaltenders more often than not. There are more than enough samples than can be found by simply spending 3 minutes on hockeydb.
Their defense corps, to me, is nowhere near playoff caliber. You have to get to the playoffs, at a minimum, to be considered "good". That says you are better than more than half of the teams in this league, which is an incredibly low bar. Anything else is just plain homerism. - buffalofan19
A) Suggesting that you are not to be criticised because you waited until the irrelevant arguments were introduced by others, before taking them up yourself, belies the BIG BRAIN, WICKED SMART mythology.
B) At the end of the day, the root or our disagreement is that I want to believe, and you want to be shown. I suspect its a very cold world where you live, finding happiness only after the fact, and not in anticipation.

I actually think they end up hovering around the same place this year. Again, this defense corps gives me zero confidence it can hold its own over the course of an 82 game season. If a trade is made somewhere along the line, my opinion might change. - buffalofan19
The d corps held its own over the course of the 82 game season last year. And we have more talent this year. We're going to be good.

Y'all stop pissing in each others cornflakes or I'm going to start pooping on your fried chicken.

I like Popeyes. There's one near my house in Penfield, and sometimes it's so good they run out.
Bit bullish on the Canadiens imo. And I'd assume the Sabres, Oilers, and Jets would all be higher, maybe the Blue Jackets as well but I say that each year. Wild are too high as well.

Carey Price is the key there. As he goes, so go the Canadiens.

The 16th in the NHL in GA with a backup goaltender suggest they did. Not to mention that was with the 26th best GF in the NHL. - Zschalberg
That "backup goaltender" was the best goaltender they had last year. 16th in GA doesn't get them into the playoffs this year, even with an improved forward group.

They were bottom 10 in shots allowed, and had a bad scoring chance differential. They weren't good - sbroads24
I'm not saying they were good, I'm saying they held their own. Let's not pretend the defense was the crux of the team last year because it wasn't. If the offense improves and the defense stays the same then sure we can start to say that, but it's not like they were losing games 5-4 and the offense was doing so much and the defense couldn't hold water. Sabres scored 1 or less goals in a good number of games (I had the number a while ago but I believe it was around 15-20)
Edit: The number was 24. Scored 1 or less goals 24 times including being shutout 6 times.
