Your quote intrigued me. Is that how it works in Buffalo? The GM gets to choose who plays on which lines? I would think he'd have enough faith in Bylsma to let him make that decision, wouldn't he?

Byslma makes the on-ice decisions. There were a few times last year that Murray wasn't a big fan of the guys Byslma chose to have in the pressbox over others.

That said, you don't want to go around your coach. If Bylsma says "Hey this kid needs time in the AHL" then unless Murray feels so strongly against it I say listen to your coach. This isn't Nolan and we don't care if we piss him off because we're getting rid of him anyways.

Plus, if Bylsma's only going to give him 5-8 minutes a night I'd rather he played in Rochester anyways. 2nd line with either Bailey or Fasching and Catenacci wouldn't be the worst thing. So far I haven't seen enough to keep him up.

So is Bailey. Adding speed to this team is going to happen when Bailey and Nylander replace the likes of Gionta (who is not slow, but has lost a step with age) and Moulson (who is slow). Not to mention that 3rd pairing on D

A younger and faster Vanek? I could get on board with that. 316 goals, 649 points. Vanek's issue was that he wasn't a superstar and wasn't able to carry a team. If Nylander is the same way it's no big deal, because that's Jack's job.
