He's made the entire league look bad all season.

Assuming you'll make it through at least 3 potential walk-off innings for the home team so you'll still have your best pitcher to put in when you might take a lead in the top half of an inning is likely the stupidest playoff managering decision I've ever seen.

- 1979AD

It made little sense. You've got runners on the corners with the league leader in RBIs up. Apparently Showalter asked Jiminez to induce a double play on EE. If this is true it's so far beyond irrational it's like we've entered an alternate Bizarro universe.

Now I may just be an armchair manager but doesn't it seem like THIS is the right time to bring in Britton? Hell, you should likely IBB Edwin and then bring Zach to face Bautista with the bases loaded. It's a braindead decision to bring in the guy who has only let in 1 earned run since May(!!) in the most critical situation possible against the deepest part of the Jays lineup in the most important game of the season.

Just an astonishing misstep by a usually shrewd Showalter. I honestly think he was trying to be far too clever and wanted to be a boss by saving Britton for an inning where the Orioles finally broke through with the lead. Whoops.

As a Jays fan I'm loving his non-decision:

I had heard that one reason Jiminez didn't start was because they thought Tillman would handle the pressure/noise better. The decision to use him instead of someone used to the pressure of late innings and high tension was bizarre.

IMO the right time to bring him in would have been to start the bottom half of the ninth. The Jays had the meat of the order up and all they have to do is score a single run to end the O's season.

Britton could have gone back out for the 10th too; he picked up multiple 6 our saves this season, once against the Jays even.

The icing on the cake was watching Ubaldo give up two quick singles on 4 pitches, and STILL keep his best pitcher on the bench.

My buddies and I were certain Britton had been injured warming up - we couldn't figure it out.

Good managers get beat with their best players playing in the best situations all the time, that's baseball. But gambling with losing an elimination game so you

Anderson's injury was not at the World Cup. Who writes this stuff? His injury was in a qualifying game for the Olympics.

So your buddy is the guy in the zipper hoody over the Jays shirt who backhand flings the can of beer onto the field in this video?

Nope, but it's definitely the guy. They would've turned him in yesterday but he took off and his buddies were the ones in front of him
