I still think he is a better player than Sbisa. He is no where near as dumb as our Italian friend.
JB should be on the horn right now seeing if he could get a box of crackers for LS. - VANTEL

I am ok if they move on from him, he is probably their most likely trade chip on defense. That being said, I think with the improvements he was showing last year we need to see where he is at again. He will likely at best be a bottom 3 defender, but I'm willing to give him 10 regular season games before I dump him |

Everyone seems to agree Sbisa improved last year. Is it impossible for him to improve again? - CanuckDon
That makes sense but it's easier and more fun to hate and freak out. |

He hasnt been in camp, made some mistakes in World Cup exhibition against the world's best and couldnt crack the Europe team's lineup, so he's fallen completely down the depth chart to rookies and journeymen apparently |

I... like most would like to see Sbisa moved to save cap space. Don't be surprised if he gets into the lineup and plays stellar. He isn't a bad player as we make him out to be. It's the contract everyone is looking at first. He's a top 6 physical defenseman. Give him a chance then judge. |

I cant say I have seen enough preseason to make a judgement call, but if I go with 8D I keep Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Gudbranson, Sbisa, Pedan, Larsen, and then figure out whether Stecher will play if he's around. If he will, then Tryamkin goes for the year in Russia, if not I keep Tryamkin around. Biega is automatic demotion for me, never been a fan of his and wouldnt jeopardize waivers with Pedan/Larsen to keep him around |

Biega is a given silly.
Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Gudbranson, Tryamkin, Larsen, Pedan, Stetcher, Sbisa. That's 9 by my count

He improved for horrible and upgraded to bad. I am not a fan at all.
I know some here like him but I think if he played at 110 % he is still a number 7 Dman |

I think Tree is definitely the guy who needs most out of that bottom 4 group to play lots this year, so maybe it is best if he would agree to go to Utica or goes back to Russia. |

They are keeping 8 so in my opinion it's an easy choice. send down Biega and Stetcher. Biega won't be claimed and Stetcher will be back up soon enough. There will be an injury within the first month of the season and there may be a trade market for Sbisa after other teams experience some injuries |

Agree to disagree. If he was making $1.5MM per season I suspect many teams would want him as their 6/7 dman. |

If he would agree to go to Utica, I would send him there ASAP. He could really get used to North American style hockey and be able to get called up. Unfortunately I dont think he would agree to go there |

My thoughts too, there is no panic or rush to get guys on the ice and potentially lose others. If they need to send guys down, Biega first and then the waiver exempt players like Stecher and Tryamkin. Injuries will come and spots will be available, some patience is required |

The first glaring part of this is the fact that he is not making 1.5 mil and it is also extended beyond this year.
Canucks had the worst D in the league last year and he was part of it. People say he is fast and hits. So does the bigger faster Pedan and a fraction of the cost.
He is just like Bartowski who couldn't make the Sens. Time to let go of the garbage . Sbisa is not a good Dman and should be in the AHL |

No. not at all.
i am fine with him at 5-6.
the worry is that keeping him could come at the expense of losing another asset that has potential to be a better fit with the team, at a lower cap hit. |

That was my initial thought as well.
However, if Tree will agree to play in Utica, then i'd keep Stetcher, as he adds things our Dunit is missing. |

And yet Pedan was scratched or playing forward last year and couldn't bump Sbisa from the lineup.
I like Pedan, but i'm not convinced he's better than Sbisa...yet. |

Why are you so anxious to create cap space in October? Management doesn't agree withy you so Sbisa is staying put. He is better (at this stage) than Tree, Pedan and Biega. It's smarter "asset management" to play him in sheltered minutes for a month and hopefully generate trade value than simply dumping him in the minors because he is the guy fans love to hate. He isn't going anywhere until a trade is made. |
