It hasn't really been discussed, but it's safe to say the Canucks were disappointed with juolevi in the preseason. I know I expected him to be more visible, and I'm pretty sure someone even said he'd get a few regular season games before being sent back to junior.
Seegachev or Tkachuk look like the better picks at this time. #firebenning - Scooby_Doo
personally I wanted sergachev |

Juolevi will turn out to be a really good, reliable defenceman. In the form of M. Ohlund, who's probably the second best dman to ever play for the Canucks. |

PEDAN on waivers.
Stetcher looks like he makes the team.
Toronto will pick him up.
Toronto will not use him for 50 games.
Toronto fans will say he sucks.
He will score his first...ummm... shift and Toronto fans will hail him as Bobby Orr.
EDIT: And throw a beer at him. |

Boeser ranked as the top player in the NCAA.

I still think Jost and Keller are going to outscore him this year though. - classic321
Interesting...Gaudette and Lockwood make the list as well. Boeser can't join the Canucks fast enough |

I don't know if anyone will pick up Pedan given the guys who've already been waived?

I think Juolevi has more offensive upside and will probably bring a little less physicality. But yes, decent comparable. |

I never thought he was going to make the team anyways. Now that Pedan has been waived... if he is NOT picked up (By The Toronto Beer Throwers) will he need waivers to be called up as an injury replacement?
And I am glad he didn't..... the roster is looking like a World Class Spelling Bee Competition already. |

JV not wanting to go to Utica. Go figure. I think he has to if he wants to play lots of minutes

Well he is saying all the right things. All these guys are media savvy. But they will sell it as a reconditioning stint. |

Can anyone explain why the team prefers Biega to Pedan? Is Pedan too mean? |

I imagine Vancouver is one of the teams that really drills into the guys how to talk to media. It would be so easy for one of them to say something stupid and get torn to shreds |

Maybe it means Sbisa is benched and we're squeaking Biega into the cutoff for the LV draft |

There is a plan there..... They need to expose a D man who has played 70 games over two years or 40 this year to the expansion draft and Biega fits that bill.

I think if the expansion draft wasn't this year, Pedan wouldn't be sent down, it's because of the draft rules that to be able to be compliant you need to expose a defenseman that's played a certain number of NHL games. Since we have to protect Guddy, Edler and Tanev and Hutton/Stecher/Pedan/Tryamkin are exempt, we need to expose a few D which will be Biega and Sbisa, the problem is that Biega hasn't played enough games so this is how they're going to get around that problem. Pedan's the first call-up for sure. |

Yup. I think was plan B.... plan A was to demote Stetcher but that was changed.

The only thing I can imagine is that they want Pedan to keep playing and hope to squeak him through, but Biega obsession is ridiculous. The guy is 28 years old, give Pedan the NHL experience
EDIT: The expansion draft theory makes some sense, but I dont entirely buy it since the team is trying to be competitive |
