I like the idea of having your game day squad play at least one game together before the opener. Good on the 'Nucks management. Tkachuk has made our team, I'm stoked about that, but we gotta get that Johnny Hockey contract done in the next few days. Good luck with Grandlund and the Baerch...

Good luck with sloppy 2nds. How's that Mason Raymond taste? |

Didn't look like this one would be close on paper, Flames didn't have an NHL roster out there. |

sven is looking good along the boards. Strength real good. Muscled off the guy on him and fed the play for JVs goal. |

Pretty good game. - Beatle_john
Meh, it was a preseason game, no one save for the bubble players like Virtanen, Skille, Burrows and Granlund were going at 100%. It's clear that we're going to have some of the same issues we did last year with the D being unable to break out of the zone effectively although we'll likely get some of the scrambly play down with Guddy. Larsen really deserves to be sent down, but sadly, I think the D-corps we saw today will be the one that opens the season and that's a damn shame. the Kronor line looks like it's going to cause some havoc with the opposition, especially on the PP if they can get/keep possession. Eriksson is going to be a beast on the RW with the Sedins and might even get more than 30 goals. |

I can see Larsen being a lightening rod of disagreement. Vert's goal was very good... quick.. good hands.... I thought Sbisa played well.... hard for me to even say that

My favorite part of the night was --- and I am not sure who said it --- was when they said no one has heard Burkie (All hail, Dark Sith Lord Burke...hummmmmm) offer to drive Johnny Gaudreau to the airport. |

this is why Ive said over the last 2 years its not the players its a coaching issue. We have several new players on D, same stupid nonsense. Everyone who comes in has the SAME issue? THAT's not the players you chose, its players playing with no team blueprint on how to exit the zone. Professional level teams with smart coaches have this info for players to follow. This is a LACK OF DEFENSIVE SYSTEM issue. Might as well be blind out there.
Hope is that Jarvis steps in after awhile and takes this issue on.
about possession, thats 1 thing I love about stetcher, he is great for possession. Yet to see him give up a turnover (from what Ive seen....and sure its preseason) or a poor pass. |

WD has the first 15-20 games, if they don't have a good start, he will be toast. This is the make or break year for both Benning and WD, after this year, they will be on their last year of their deals with the club. If WD is fired, Benning will be on the hot seat, because then he'll have to hire a new HC and show FA that his plan will work or he won't get extended and be a lame duck GM. A lot will ride on this season one way or another, if we end up with another top 10 pick and missing the playoffs, I see Benning being replaced in the off-season. I've believed that 3 years ago when he was hired and I believe it still now. |

yeah, i'd like to see him and Stetcher rotate so they don't get burned out due to the long season.... lots of times Europeons or college/ junior players start getting burned out after xmas or all-star break. |

Hutton sure looks good this year. In fact the top 4 look good. I know it is preseason but I do expect the Canucks to be a decent team this year. |

I do too Vantal - I think Bo, Hanson, Sutter, Granlund, Rodin, Baert will turn some heads will their skill/maturity - I believe the chemistry is starting to develop on our 2nd, 3rd line and will generate offense that we lacked the last few years.

Lets evaluate this after we see more than preseason games. I think if we have a stronger showing in the faceoff circle it will be less of a problem. |
