I've been advocating a move like this (for Maroon) for a while now. For TvR I'd still ask Edmonton to retain some of Maroon's salary.
- DarthKane

The Oilers are VERY unlikely to trade Maroon after they swiped him from Anaheim. They really like him in their lineup. Don't expect to get him unless the Hawks overpay.

Makes me think they are maybe showing off some potential trade pieces maybe?
- breadbag

Maybe, but it's more likely they want to give some of the vets the night off.

I know, I wouldn't want to trade Maroon either and I doubt he is moved.

But I can certainly have a little wishful thinking.

#Blackhawks recall defensemen Viktor Svedberg and Ville Pokka from Rockford.

- DarthKane

Probably just for the preseason game tomorrow against the Blues, with Hjalmarsson out and give Keith and Seabrook a day off.

Because the Hawks traded him to the Kings but retained part of his cap hit - so only his partial cap hit is on the books - not Scuderi on the roster.

Ya, you may be right about what is more likely, but it is interesting because of the possibly. Will be interesting to see if the Hawks do end up making a deal within the first month or two of the season.

I dont get that then because then they have to re-expose Svedberg in waivers if they send him back down again correct? He just cleared

Pokka is waiver exempt so I get that. Svedberg isnt. If he shows something and it interests another team as they are taking last looks on players to possibly claim, if Chicago just plans on dumping him back in Rockford, they would lose him for nothing.

I think they fully plan on starting Svedberg in Rockford and if that was the case I dont think they would have bothered bringing him back up with the risk of losing him via waivers again unless they were trying to showcase him

That's right. For Erhoff, yes?

Yes. How could I have forgotten?

No - players can be recalled for 10 games or 30 days before having to clear waivers again.

Yeah, that was a head scratcher all the way around. Ehrhoff didn't play and we got stuck with 1.25M cap hit this season and last. A lose-lose trade for the Hawks.

It's better than still being on the hook for $2.25 million of Scuderi's cap hit this season.

Considering he shouldn't have even been a target ... the Hawks should have had ZERO of that guy's cap hit still on the books. Amazing, that trade was.

I can confirm. Yakupov traded to Blues. Unsure of return at this time. #Oilers

Ha.

Edit to add: Prospect is Zachary Pochiro, who seems to be a work in progress 22-year old. And the condition is "selection becomes a second-round #NHLDraft choice in 2018 if Yakupov scores 15 or more goals during the 2016-17 season"

The third round pick becomes a second round pick if Yakupov scored at least 15 goals next season.

Depending on the level of the prospect - Chicago couldn't have bettered that?

Maybe the persuader for Edmonton was no salary retention.

So really, EDM got a 3rd rounder that can turn into a 2nd, because the prospect spent most of his time in the ECHL and is a long shot for the NHL.

The Edmonton Oilers turned two first-overall picks into Adam Larsson, a conditional third-round pick, and an ECHLer. Impressive.

If the #Oilers trade Yakupov, Yakupov will be the fourth top 5 draft pick Chiarelli has traded. Kessel, Seguin, Hall, Yakupov.

The prospect is 22 and only played 1 AHL game - has been in juniors and ECHL.
