I disagree. What better time to develop chemistry while the points don't count. Eriksson was signed with the intention of playing with the Sedins (proper 1st line winger, has history internationally, can scream Swedish on the ice to confuse other team, etc etc etc). 1 game where the they don't score an even strength goal and Willie goes to the media and says they looked bad?? Willie knows what he is getting with Hansen playing 1st line, its not new. Willie has never seen first hand what the Tre Kronor line can do in Canucks Uni's. Give them every opportunity to get in game shape and develop chemistry and tendencies before the season starts and the points count IMO. - Codes1087
Is it the craziest idea rob play Hansen with the sedins and see if loui can click with another line?
It will inevitably happen and some point in the season, may as well see who meshes |

if there were 4 pre-season games left then I would agree. But there is only 1. I know you want the best productivity out of all your lines/players but we could be potentially looking at Sedin(7M) + Sedin (7M) one the first line. Eriksson (6.5M) on 2nd line. Sutter (4.5M) on third line. Burrows (4M?) and Dorsett (3.5M) on the 4th Line. And Sbisa (4.5?) on third pairing. Like I said, you always put together line combinations that work, but clearly there is an issue with either how management values their players, or how Willie is deploying his lines. |

His line deployments are also very questionable. Dorsett protecting a lead with 1 minute left is not exactly the smartest. At the same time, I am sitting at a computer typing this and Willie is making his cash being a Bench Boss so what do I know. - Codes1087
Neither is playing him when we are down by a goal. he did both last year

I think you identified in your other post that he is paid to be the coach. By worrying that the Sedins and Eriksson need to develope chemistry is probably not as important as Hansen regaining that feel of playing with them again. Then he gets to see if there is any chemistry with Eriksson and other players.
The Tre Kronor line just played in a high intensity tournament together, I'm pretty sure they're quite comfortable with each other to start the season. |

Willie also leaned on Linden Vey a lot in those key assignments last year. So many bizarre decisions that he had to be in on a stealth tank. |

It's funny to see you say this because this is exactly what happened in Boston. He was a glove like fit next to Bergeron and Marchand. They dominated together. But eventually you realize Bergy and Marchy (the Sedins) don't need Eriksson to produce at a high level. On the flip side, Eriksson doesn't need them either. Maybe hes better off propping up a guy like Sutter.
I think this all circles back to how underrated Eriksson is. He can anchor a line. The guy does nothing flashy, but his hockey iq is off the carts and he knows how to finish. His game is borderline flawless. You're gonna love him

It was more a comment directed towards the Sedins.
As we've discussed here, many times, they are usually need to switch up their 3rd partner throughout the season in order to keep the opposition guessing.
Maybe Loui will be the exception, but at some point, the scoring will dry up and the coach will mix things up, happens every year, regardless of coach.
In saying that, Ericksson has looked great with them in WCH and the 1 game they played together
Hansen can play with them, at some point they will play together and Loui can drop to that 2nd line with Bo and Sven, would spread the scoring around.
Put loui with the Sedins on the PP1 and they can still produce!

WD doesn't like to deviate from his plan during a game. That hurt him last year. - VanHockeyGuy
That's what sh!t coaches do, kind of like Hartley last year. His line deployments were confounding.

The Sedins don't do road games in the pre-season and is most likely why Erikkson is practicing with other players.
Carry on freaking out. |

It sure did, badly.
and you CANNOT win in the playoffs in NHL with that type of coach. Its not possible.
So again, why is he still here then. We need a playoff coach |
