Ill say this, it's a difficult job/position cleaning up someone else's mess. When you need to change the culture of your team but you don't have any dance partners is a really hard position to be in.
I feel for Chiarelli, he didn't create the mess but he's getting poop in for trying to change the team. Bottom line is they never should've picked Yak 1st overall. Chiarelli didn't pick him, Lowe did! - LeftCoaster
Do you really believe Yakapov shouldn't of gone 1st OV ?
Oilers screwed that up no doubt but picking yak wasn't a mistake. He was the clear cut #1. Galchenyuk might of been an option but was coming off serious knee injury.

Ya but the Canucks lack of depth and the fact it's always our best players hurts us. |

The bookies suggest otherwise. If this is so out to lunch then it's a good opportunity to make some money. No? - VanHockeyGuy

Yes, absolutely! There was concern about his game back then, which has proven to be true, PLUS, they needed a defenceman far worse than a forward. Galchenyuk would've went 1st overall IMO if he hadn't missed the entire year. |

I don't know how they improved? Hall is better than Lucic. Yak is better than a third rounder.
Caguilla and Jesse look very decent but need to see them preform first . - VANTEL
McJesus upside is massive. Not many teams can boast a generational talent to build around like that…that alone is an improvement.
Jury is out on Lucic over Hall but adding Larsen/Russell will help them regardless of what people think of Russell.
Puljujarvi an NHL-ready pick. Nurse and Klefbom another year along.
Draisaitl emerging with massive upside…
I think the improvements are there…but still a wait and see on a few. |

I am beginning to think Burrows will be extendend this year 1 mil 1 year.
He played 79 games last year and qualifies as expansion draft compliant . If he is not picked can be bought out or sent down. |

Galchenyuk also was a center and at the time, The Oilers had picked RNH the year before and were supposedly fine at that position. That said, the Oilers should have traded that pick for someone like Subban or Weber and they'd have been in far better shape today. Yakupov wasn't the BEST choice for the Oilers, but he was the consensus 1OA in all the scouting reports. |

He's one of the best shot blocking defence man in the NHL. The Oilers D sucked last year just like ours. Larsson & Russell has made them better. - VanHockeyGuy
Russel is trash. He is always blocking shots because he is always hemmed in his own zone. Such a stupid stat |

We WON the trade just like the Bae trade. Let's put this to rest for once and focus on Subbans feelings and the expansion draft :thumb sup |
