Meh. Offensive guy who can chip in points on the special teams (about 50% of points at 5v4). VERY mediocre in his own zone and doesn't really help get the puck out despite being a decent skater. I'd say he tops out as being a 3/4D though will get 1PP time.
Let's put this another way - Jake Gardiner >>> Ristoleinen in his own zone.

Not surprising. Anyway it takes a while for defensemen to develop usually. Took Hedman about 5 years or so before he was a bona-fide top line defenseman. Ristolainen will be fine in his own zone, especially when he starts playing with a better d partner.

Sabres will have 4.55 mil in cap space with 21 man roster. If you add one of Fasching or Nylander it will be 3.6 mil to start season. I don't see them keeping 14 forwards. - StaziakAttack
General fanager has us at $2.5M in cap space with the Risto signing. Take away COR and you have 3.2, add in Fasching for example and you're at 2.3. That's what I was going with.

15 forwards
7 defenseman
with 1,987,976 of cap space.
We could end up with about 5m - cabin
I guess we'll see very soon. My guess is it could still be between 2.5-3.
edit- looking at it if they go with 13F and 7 D and put Cody on ir they then would have around 4.7m in cap space. Just enough to do something if they wish.

Gionta and Franson alone will give us 7M more in cap space. Murray has done a decent job not getting us stuck before the kids need to be signed. Let's see how he does when they do

Lehner and a backup will take a chunk next year. Specially if we make the playoffs.

Lehner is Arb eligible - cabin
Backup could/should be the same amount. Ullmark could/should do it. Starter, yeah we'll see how the ball rolls.
For today, I'm in a good place. Bills have a winning record, Sabres start in 2 days, NHL starts tomorrow, my fantasy team had no one get hurt before the season started, and now Risto is signed to a favorable deal. For one day, Buffalo, everything went as we hoped.
