Notley picked the worst possible time to increase taxes on Alberta Oil. She delivered the death punch.

Death punch....please,it didn't help but the Oil industry was heading in the poopter regardless.

I got the west locked down. You got the east? I'll send you some of our oil, you send us French girls and poutine.

Every time I hear someone say that increasing the minimum wage is a great idea, I cringe...

Agreed but the cost of living needs to be market corrected...kind of a chicken or the egg arguement, I know, but..

Exactly. In my opinion at times like this you decrease taxes to try and generate more spending and job growth. Once it's recovered you can slowly increase these things. But at a time while the province is running an unemployment rate of 8.5%, nearly 2 full percent higher than it was 1 year ago, it's counterproductive.

In theory, But that doesn't happen. It gives it a little nudge, but it only really benefits the Banks and credit unions as people start going in the red. The only real sustainable job growth comes from real industry and export.

Rangers actively trying to shop McIlrath. 800k hit for a #3 RHD. But we needed to go out and get Kris faking Russell for 3.1.

Truth? And is he a real legit # 3??

So how do we generate job growth ( actually, alberta is looking at National high of 2% in 2017) when out main industry is down? Cost of living in Alberta is still really high despite the economy so what's going to generate spending to fuel the economy? You guys are looking for quick solutions that don't exist. The province (frank)ed up by not diversifying when they had the influx of people and a strong economy. That wasn't Notley. Construction in Alberta went from 7+Billion in 2015 to just over 2 this year. That's not Notley, that's the Oil crash. We need new supplementary industry to sustain when Oil is down. We had our chance to do that and failed. Now we're playing catch up. I don't mind catching up but I realize it's going to take years and years if we want to manufacture a strong ( for example) software and IT industry, otherwise we depend on trade agreements to move some of our other resources, like Water and Lumber...younwant to sell the water to nestle and chop down all our trees for pennies on the dollar?

Sorry while the economy is in the tank and people can't find work and businesses aren't making enough money to keep their doors open but it's appropriate to implement new taxes? Increase minimum wage by nearly 20% so those small businesses won't be able to afford to employ 20 staff but have to reduce it to 12? Drive up the price of oil and gas by adding more taxes to them? Give themselves all raises even tho they make gross amounts of money to begin with (the head of the WCB in Alberta took home over 891k last year). I'm not blaming the falling economy on the NDP government, that was happening long before they took office, but they could take actions that encourage growth instead of burying the little man even further.

Not sure. Rangers fans think he is and there are rumblings he'd be shipped in a package for Shattenkirk.

Oh I agree, some of the policies are retarded, all I'm saying is that we would be in tough no matter what efforts were made regardless of who's in charge. We've been here before, we just gotta ride it out.

They're at 70.5 roughly in committed contracts. They need a lot more than McIlrath's 800k to come of the books in order to accommodate a Shattenkirk deal.

To think we could have signed Versteeg and had McIlrath for less than they're paying Russell.

May have been heading that way, but that certainly didn't help. Can easily say it was a death punch that crippled the Alberta economy more than it could handle.

The Wild got Pulkkinen, which means a bunch of teams passed. Including the Oilers.
