Why even go over there?
U gotta know it's just gonna be ridiculous - jdfitz77
Wanted to see the discussion about their good young players. Turned out it was a Sabres bash fest...still not as bad as this board, though. |

He would be the best defenseman on the team, and giving up a 1,2, and 3 for a number one dman is definitely worth it but it won't happen - mattmoulson
Yeah, it's probably unlikely
I hope Murray is considering it though |

I do feel for you guys tho its a tough break to lose two guys like that to start off your season.....just look at what happened to us once they really started to pile up |

Actually, we do have the Cap space
Eichel can go on LTIR
And we can just dump a player like Franson or Gorges if we have to - jdfitz77
that doesnt help you, he doesnt have big enough of a cap hit to do anything.
Kane on the other hand you could LTIR... if you expect them to miss 10 games or 24 days they are eligible.
Amount team can exceed the cap = Cap hit of LTIR player - Amount of cap space available. Eichel on LTIR would only give you roughly 3.1m in cap space |

Kane will very likely be out that long with 3 broken ribs. That would give us more than enough room. It won't happen, but it's nice to dream sometimes. |

That can't be right
Eichel's cap hit alone is like 3.3 bc of the bonuses
But regardless...
like u said, we can just do it with Kane now too |

Its crazy how that guy can't stay healthy, freak accidents or not, 4 seasons in a row with injures that make you miss 15+ games is pretty crazy |

Style of play. Similar to Taylor Hall. Balls to the wall 100% of the time |

his cap hit is only 950k. his bonuses don't count towards the cap in the season, only are applied after the season if he hits t hem, and are separate line items, they don't make his cap fluctuate.
Him as a player only has a 950k cap hit as an ELC |

Pretty much sums it up...these guys live by the sword and die by it...every year...so unless guys like that change how they play it will continue to happen

it seems to always be upper body injuries too, shoulders, ribs, etc. Maybe he needs to dial back the crash and bang style if he wants to keep playing at a high level, eventually a body breaks down into a puddle of yuck if he doesnt take care of himself |

Ok, that makes sense
Kane to IR still works though
Then we just have to dump Franson or Gorges |

I would say if you wanted more cap space you could just demote Eichel to the AHL, but I think you can't demote an injured player. Not entirely sure of that
Kane on LTIR would help, but yes finding a dump for Franson would be more ideal. I think you are stuck with Gorges since he is still signed for next year at 3.9m
Franson only signed for this year makes him easier to move |

I don't think so. We had to carry Guhle last year when he was hurt at the beginning of the season. And only when he was healthy were we allowed to send him down to Junior. I think the only way is to release a player with an injury settlement. And that's obviously not happening. |
