3 games and you write the guy off... even when last night wasnt even his fault.
- Dozzer

I agree, I thought Andersen made some great stops.
Complete collapse in front of him.

yeah it was.

and you are wrong... I pretty much wrote him off in the summer.

Hey, I hope I am wrong, but that save percentage, and the fact that people have blamed him for a couple goals in each loss is not my imagination or bias.

fair point...

Except that contract is going to hurt.

- Aetherial

Dozzer that is 40% Why are people so willing to make excuses. Are you going to tell me this same conversation didn't happen with Bernier?

While we are on that subject, when people finally understood Bernier sucked, do you not remember people talking about how 1 bad goal a game can deflate a team and erode their confidence...

By the way, it was only 2 bad goals in Ottawa also, *maybe* 3.

That is just not good goaltending, no matter how you defend it.

- Aetherial

yup... its all on andersen...nevermind the team in front of him sucks brutal ass on D

this is what its like to have a young team... they will finish bottom 10... like i have been saying all along... those goals are not on the goalie... not even close.

did you not see some of the stops he made last night? that game would have been well out of hand by the 3rd if it weren't for him making highlight reel saves.

he's only human ffs.

so exactly which goal was Andersen's fault according to the Andersen-haters?
surely not the Laine goals or the Scheifele top corner shot??

I think people understand your point and not necessarily disagreeing. They're just saying it's too small of a sample size to make a judgement. Bad goaltending in a few games isn't a trend and doesn't dictate future performance. That being said, I did not think he played poorly last night.

you can't place this on the goalie... he has already proven he is a very good starter with a competent defense in front of him

especially for a guy who missed most of camp... for andersen... he is about halfway through camp right now when it comes to game action.

people were saying playoffs were a possible reality for this team... and that was hilarious... this team has horrible D... absolutely horrible... the leafs have a long long ways to go.

Yeah almost.

Andersen sucked, but it also didn't help that Matthews had his second game where he was lost and confused most of the time while Laine shines.

has anyone else noticed that the energy and aggression we saw from him in game 1 has gone. I mean the game 1 goals were a fortunate happenstance, but he looked way more dangerous in game 1

I wonder if maybe he is working on stuff Babcock is trying to teach him... remember when Rielly looked bad for quite a while last year while he was working on Babcock's coaching.

Then he came back better than ever... I am hoping Matthews does the same

Pain people, Z is ok but I don't think moving him up will be much difference.

At least it's fun to watch, if the refs were awake we would have won...I said it last night but how does Buff get away with that slew foot on Rielly and then they give Rielly a penalty - brutal

he did... he let in easily saved shots

if it wasnt for andersen last night making some huge saves that game would have been 8-4

- Dozzer

I dont think so. That's pretty hypocritical. A goalie has to stop pucks no matter what. It doesnt matter who it's on or how they played, 5 is too many.

Not to mention Reimer kept them in the series since game 5. Andersen played a solid but sporadic 20 minutes.

Dont get me wrong, Reimer isn't a world beater goalie and Andersen isn't a Bernier. But I expect more from him than multiple 5 goals against games. He'll pick up in a few games.

there were a couple goals that could have been stopped and were due to bad positioning... easily fixed with some drills.

but when the guy has the shooter... and both his d chase the shooter, leaving a guy wide open on the far side of the net you cant blame the goalie for that... omg.. how dare he not slide 12' across with the pass and make a huge glove save.. HOW DARE HE BURN?!?!?

I let the playoff wishes go without comment, but definitely thought it was too early in the rebuild to expect that. Also from what I saw, Andersen looked like he held is own and it could've been a much more lopsided game.

I saw the highlights, and all I can think of is that the Andersen apologists are the same people who defended Bernier and made excuses for 2 years.

yeah the defense is bad... and we have like 6 rookies or something, but that goaltending will throw this year away if it doesn't improve.

- Aetherial

By watching highlights, you didn't see how stellar he was the first half.

What should he have stopped?
