I think you do it for Marner so you jump at the chance to do it for Nylander. #1 Defenceman are the hardest assets to aquire. Not a Leafs fan and not taking anything away from either Nylander or Marner, they will both be really good to great but I'd do those trades in a heart beat

Marner needs better linemates than JVR and Bozak.
That pass 3rd period was genious (and not a coincidence as someone on here said yesterday) but Bozak didn't know what to do with it since 3-4 levels down compared to Marner.

Just play Marner with Nylander and Matthews, or Marner with Nylander and Komarov.

Too soon to trade 1 of these guys, I think the Leafs would prefer to suck for 1 more season and see what they can get at the Draft/FA etc.

Marner is on franchise player level, you don't trade him ever.

Can't believe that guy on the breakaway didn't get back to defend a guy coasting at the red line waiting for a breakout pass! What a (frank)ing loser! Basically Alexei Yashin without the heart!

I'm not too concerned about the OT. That's what happens in 3-on-3. They all still need a lot of work on defensive zone coverage though in 5-on-5.

He's not going to catch him...he takes a shot and almost has to come to a complete stop because the ref is in the way...Laine is in full flight when he gets that pass.

Absolutely. Shanny, Lou and Mike aren't stupid.

This will take a few more years to sort out. You can't go from over a decade of mismanagement to being successful in two years.

They'll suck another couple of years and then start to climb after that.

There's too much dead weight to bother going for anything this year. Play through the season, see growth from the kids. Drop the UFA's after this year, draft high, bring Kapanen, Sosh, Gauthier and one of Dermott/Nielsen up next year, and then go from there.

There will be pain.
