Babcock said in the presser that they were dangerous offensively, but not good defensively; they were getting hemmed in a lot, mostly because big body Jets taking away the wall.

The whole team has looked really young for stretches so far this season, but this is all teachable stuff. This isn't like prior years where we had nothing to work with: this is just a team full of rookies with growing pains.

- gravyface

Yeah it was easily the lines worst game in terms of possession. There were at least three shifts where they spent the entire time in their own end. That's a 100% rookie line though so no poop, of course that'll happen once in a while.

agreed, they were too soft in the D-zone with too many attempts to check the large Jets forwards with stick pokes. This is something that can be taught, but what I would have liked to see is Babcock put a guy like Komarov or Martin with Matthews and Nylander for 1 or 2 shifts. Show them during the game how to play harder and win some puck battles instead of letting them flounder shift after shift.

The whole game looked like a throwback to the Carlyle era.

it's crazy to say, but also possibly encouraging that these young guys need to watch how Kadri plays and supports the defence down low. If Kadri can learn to play that way, then maybe these guys can too.

The only thing I remember about Marincin from last night was cringing every time he turned the puck over on a breakout pass attempt and that one shot he took that missed the net by a stealth bomber's wingspan.

Yup. Kadri's line looked good again in their own end. Nice to see him pot a couple too.
