For a big goalie he looks small in net, so much room over both shoulders. He comes out to far.

I think it was the big bodies taking away the walls and us doing a terrible job on the breakout for most of the night more than "speed".

It was a good game to watch. I'm sure both coaches were pulling their hair out. Not exactly the kind of hockey that will win a Cup this year. Both defenses were awful...although I could watch Morgan Rielly skate all day long.

I would put Marincin on waivers, sit Gardiner for a game or two, either play both Corrado and Polak or bring up Loov or Valiev.

They looked young and scared in their own end. Lots of "no you get it!" missed touches and low percentage stretch passes instead of quick outlets to the center to skate it out.

Peg got some big boys though. Just looked massive out there. Should be a fun team to watch; would definitely be my choice to cheer for in the playoffs if they were in and we were not.

For Gardiner it's accountability, he has and I will say this for the hundredth time, zero hockey IQ when it comes to defensive decisions, the bad pinching has got to stop. It's not just once a game, it is several times that lead to great scoring chances against.

All I can hope for is that the new shift in direction towards analytics for many NHL teams will elevate Gardiner to some kind of reasonable trade value in their eyes, and the Leafs can get a capable defender in return.

yeah ehlers is damn good. scheiffle too. they have a damn good young roster.
