Best player on Wpg yesterday was Nicolaj Ehlers.
That guy is good.
Best guy on the Leafs.. probably Nylander? Holland played quite ok as well.
again an unimpressive game by the 'vets' JVR, Michalek, Martin etc. - MaximusAurelius
Yup.
Like I said last year, they have a great young team and still have good prospects coming.

They do but for all the money invested in that D, they are not very good in their own zone, penalty kill is atrious. |

Nylander was visibly poor on defense. All he did was try and dump the puck out unsuccessfully. On offense he always looks good, but he really needs some work on D. |

I thought JVR was pretty good...so was Kadri.
Scheifele was Jets best player but Ehlers can fly. |

the Mathews/nylander/hyman line will struggle in their own zone this year. part of the learning process.
It will be amplified on the road where it’s harder for babcock to get the match-up he wants.

Maybe they should flip Komarov and Hymen. Might help out that line. Although I really Hymen's work ethic. |

Leafs play Minnie tonight?
Enroth or whoever our backup is will be playing?
Play andersen for the blackhawks.
Or just ride him for all three? |

Enroth will make his Maple Leafs debut on Thursday in Minnesota.
Frederik Andersen started the first three games of the season, including last night, so Enroth will make his Maple Leafs debut in Minnesota on Thursday. Enroth was 7-5-1 with a 2.17 GAA and .922 SV% in 16 games with the Kings last year. Enroth has a modest .911 career SV% and is a serviceable backup who will get a lot of offensive support, but not nearly as much defensive support as he had in Los Angeles a year ago.

You do realize that the people who are invested in analytics actually watch the games as much, if not more right? That these additional data points that come up don't just come up out of thin air, but rather because the games have been watched and re-watched with every small minutiae recorded? And that beyond the raw data (the statistics), the process of analytics is trying to find meaning in the data, which requires a logical approach and the ability to differentiate between a correlation and a causation.
Okay, cool. Carry on |

Agreed, thats why I didnt understand when they were out there with the second or third pairing defence at some points. They need better defence out there with that line.
The other thing to note on this loss that I think hasn't been mentioned much is that Babcock rolled 4 lines(minus the last couple minutes), and Winepeg shortened their bench. Could have changed the outcome if he was truly coaching for wins IMO. It's clearly more about learning right now then winning. |
