We could have had Erik Condra on waivers. Instead we dress Nic "is it my shift?" Deslauriers every night. This is why we can't have nice things. |

Vancouver didn't exactly blow the doors off the place tonight. They were outclassed, especially by the ROR line. Some bad decisions doomed the Sabres tonight. Not covering the backside when a player is rushing the net. You have to cover for your goalie, he's not going to stop every shot clean no matter how good he is, Reinhart passing with a high danger chance on his stick, Deslauries jumping on the ice for some inexplicable reason.
They got 3 out of 6 points on a road trip. Didn't everyone say they wanted the Sabres to go .500 with Jack and Evander out? But now we're bad? It's just never enough for some people. I'm not singling you out. A lot of people have been saying how bad we are tonight and the other night. |

You must have watched a different game than me, as the effort was there, we outchanced and out shot Vancouver, just failed to put some good looks in the net. Not sure why d-lo jumped on the ice? I want to see something more from Ennis and Grant very soon, as neither is doing much. I thought our D as a whole was good. |

Obviously they got to start burying there chances, plenty of opportunities but no finish. We all knew they were going to have major highs and lows this year and we all knew the opening month of the season was going to be a challenge, even more so with Kane and Eichel out. Even when Kane and Eichel are back they still will need more scoring depth if Ennis continues to do nothing and if Girgensons and Moulson are the same. I will say Moulson has been better compared to last year but at many times throughout the game he is invisible. The defense is ok, not great. They need another shutdown d, Kulikov has been ok but nothing special, McCabe has had a couple blunders but has been solid overall. Gorges and Bogosian have been the 2 worst so far, I would probably start Nelson in one of the next games. Lehner is also just ok so far. Some brilliant saves at times and awful rebound control at others. All in all, we need to makes some moves, but easier said than done. |

Teams lose their star players and yet they still dominate we have no one - GERBE!!!75PTS
What's happened this year to say that? Got trounced by MTL...yes. However, we trounced EDM right back, lost in OT and just lost by a goal. Personally, I think you add Kane/Eichel into this lineup and we're doing just fine. Even just Jack. He's a big part of this team and call that an excuse if you will, but this loss doesn't worry me in the least. |

1. Grant should never be on the pp
2. Kulikov should never be on the pp
3. if 5 guys are getting 4 minutes plus pp time, Moulson should not be one of those guys
4.Lehner's juicy rebounds hurt this team
5. Foligno is one of the few players that has stepped up recently, he deserves some pp time
6. how in the hell in this day do you get too many men on the ice?
7. what the hell was bogo thinking with his delay of game penalty?
that's all I got |

Well that sucked. hopefully the Bills are 5-2 before the Sabres play again. Im liking Okposo and Kuli passes the eye test so far. Goin to the game Tuesday. Was pumped when I got the tix, then Eichel got hurt and enthusiasm was deflated, now the start of the season makes me hope I don't fall asleep at the game. Not looking good. |

I thought this was the worst game they played. Penalties by Kulikov, Risto and Bogo, and they cannot generate any type of offense to save there lives.

The point of this is that were supposed to destroy teams like Vancouver am I the only one they just sees that were the same (frank)ing team .. Like honestly were struggling against the pooptiest (frank)ing teams and people are gonna think we're going to suddenly be good against top teams we found that out against Montreal |

Ok, I was actually at the game tonight in Vancouver. Just got back to my hotel room. Here's what I saw from row 13 at the blue line.
The first period was brutal from both sides. Very safe/boring hockey. The second period the Sabres definitely controlled it and to a lesser extent in the third. Overall, there was a good effort from the Sabres. They just made a couple of mistakes which cost them a point. Louis Erikson's pass on the PP goal for the Canucks second goal was sick. Lehner had no chance on it. However, Lehner should have squeezed it tight on the first goal.
Sabres that you noticed - for good reasons - ROR, Okposo, Foligno, McCabe. Girgs and Ennis were working it hard out there tonight as well. Reinhart had some good chances but didn;t really stand out. Because he is from Vancouver, they named him 3rd star of the game.
Grant and Baptiste - neither were noticeable. De Lo didn't do much even though he was credited with the goal. Franson is definitely slow and was beaten to the outside. However, overall the Sabres looked pretty fast and they were playing Bylsma's system well. Some decent breakouts and solid forechecking.
Where they really sucked - and it was noticeable - was on any 4 on 4 opportunities. Without Eichel and Kane, we just don't have enough skill and speed. I think the two of them would have been difference makers tonight. Also, the PP didn't look very good tonight. ROR on the point - i am not sure about that.
One last observation, it seems like Gionta was out there quite a bit. Even on the 4 on 4 and second power play/penalty kill. We will not be a truly competitive team when we still rely on Gionta for important minutes.
Overall, I give the Sabres a B to B+ effort. They should have gotten at least one point tonight so I am sure they are disappointed. |

Both Kuli and Okposo were solid tonight, agreed. Once we get Kane and Eichel back, i really like 5 of our top 6.

With Jack and Evander back I think that's moot. But I'm not quite sure why he gets bashed so much. He still has wheels, he doesn't (frank) up very often. He's a solid, if unspectacular, player. We could do much worse in that position.
Baptiste had that play where he blazed his way down the ice and beat out the icing, but other than that yeah he was pretty invisible, but at the same time he only played 5:49. Deslauries never touched the puck; the goal went to Baptiste.
I think they were just trying out a new PP, I think they put ROR back there because he's a good passer, and they shifted almost immediately anyway, so he wasn't really "on the point" very much. Not like when they use Jack there. Something that just occurred to me. Is Jack his full name? Or is it really Jonathan? Kinda like people call him Sam, but his name is Samson. And along those lines the Seahawks kicker actually spells his name Stephen Hauschka, but for his entire career going back to NC State they spelled it Steven, he never said anything because he "didn't want to be a pain". lol |

The problem that's just as important, or maybe more so, is when the D gets the puck to the forward with space, the next play is not made and they lose the puck.
Not the D's fault as the forwards need to make plays and hold on to it. |

Like I have been saying since the summer, there is little reason to think this team is going to be any better than last season.
Lehner is not a #1, the defense isn't deep enough or good enough and we still have too many passengers up front.
Regression might be in the cards. 75 points. |

Other than Risto, this team lacks any transition ability in the top 4. Even McCabe struggles hitting guys in stride coming out of the zone |
