Sure looks like an optional skate today for the #Sabres. Anders Nilsson is the goalie on the ice. Indication Robin Lehner is in tonight.

one reason why there is no excuse to sit lehner tonight


it's a good thing in many ways

1. gets a west coast trip out of the way
2. gives them time to practice for a long stretch w/o kane/eichel
3. a chance for the d to blend
4. a chance for the coach to get a clue how to work the lines


the downside is it's frustrating to watch 2 games in 7 days for the first full week of the season

It has pros and cons, that's for sure. I'm ready for the season though, so only getting like 2 games a week for the first couple sucks!

I'd rather give Lehner a chance to get rolling a bit. Yes, goalies need rest now and then, but 2 games a week isn't exactly overworking him right now.

It's early in the season and they don't play again until Tuesday, give Nilsson the game against the Wild on next Thursday

I think hed do well. Rogers centre is a hitter ball park and the pitching match ups arent too tough in the AL east right now. My guess is they'll offer EE market value and if they cant convince him to stay they'll go big on Napoli. Doubt they'd offer him term though
