Like I said...

...gonna take patience.

We'll see how much Q and upper management have if this continues into December.

Richard Panik. Nice.

Looks like we are witnessing another miracle on ice, meaning a point or 2 at home against Toronto

I know. It's disappointing when the team has to come from behind and win in a shootout. They should be winning all home games by a margin of 5 or 6 goals,

They should be playing better, at home, against Toronto, than they did for 58 minutes tonite.

Missed the game completely. Anyone care to give a brief summary of who played well, who didn't, etc...? The good, the bad, and the ugly?

The Hawks were really up and down tonight, and another night where the PK was 50%....brutal.

AA managed 53% at the dot and some more production, which is a good sign after the start he had to the year. Hawks didn't really deserve this game, but the Leafs are young and good at giving up leads too.

Yes they were behind, but I don't recall them being a pile of suck for all 58 mins. Enjoy the win.

It wasn't a great game for them, but there's no need to be hyperbolic by saying they only played well for 2 minutes - they were the better team in terms of possession for two of the three periods, for example. Considering they're still not fully clicking and were in the second game of a back to back, they did alright. Def got to improve in some key areas, though.

The defense TOI continues to be more balanced, which is nice, but Kane played 25+ minutes again tonight - that over 50 minutes in two nights (while still being one of the better possession players on the team). Both the d-men and Kane's TOI are trends to watch as the games continue.

Bowman is in negotiations right now with Panik's agent Marian Hossa. Won't be much money left for little Artie.

100% fact. not only do you resign 72, you get rid of another one of stan's bad contracts in 16. All we heard from JJ is the penalty kill is worse now cause he is out last year, well he is here and now and it iust by far the worst penalty kill I have ever seen. He loses ever single draw to start it. Then the hawks are chasing all night.

Not only was 16 horrible at the dot last night, he gets set up all alone no one within 10 feet of him, and he loses a perfect pass. His contract is going to go down just like 29's. I can't believe how many people want him to be the #2 center on this team on this blog

AA has been the best 2nd line center the hawks have had yet anytime he has a bad game the blog has to bash him non stop. I think its cause the blogger has a man crush on Kruger

Bickell contract basically cost us losing Saad. Hoping the Kruger one does not have us losing Breadman.

He has had like 2 good games and 4 not so good so far. Nothing against him, just glad to see him turning it around after the start he had.

Seems like Darling spends a lot of time splayed out on his stomach. For example, Mitch Marner in the last round of the shoot-out tonight had Darling lying flat on the ice -- fortunately Marner missed a wide open net.

He was gassed tonight. Behind the play he struggled to get his feet moving, took a couple offsides where he couldn't get out of the zone for it seemed like 15 seconds. He was spent during the 3 on 3. But when he found some oxygen the kid was magical.

I can't look at the box cuz I have MTL vs BOS recorded and want to watch but it seemed Forsling had a ton of PK time, 1st unit time. Yes?

First I've seen Hossa live this year. This guy hasn't lost a step at all.

Campbell had some jump tonight more than I've noticed from him since his return.

Thought the PK was noticeably more aggressive. A good sign IMO.

Has Hartman gotten the message? Kid is minding his role and staying out of the box. Thought he'd retaliate when Andersen pushed his face with his stick.

I was very impressed with TOR. Thought they played a smart game, were prepared, contested everything with a stick or a body (Hawks had 8 shots at the 10:00 mark of the 2nd), blocked a lot of shots, were structured in all 3 zones and dynamic when attacking, attacked in layers........ Best I've seen the Leafs this year.

Nice win. Maybe the kind that provides a spark to build from.

So scoring a goal makes someone a top 6 winger? Hmmm.

He's probably going to end up a decent third liner. Speed is not exceptional. Hands are not exceptional. He plays hard and makes good decisions over 200 feet. Good enough offensively. What does that sound like to you?

You guys just stand up and be counted a couple of years from now. I recall all too well being one of the few voices of reason on "TT Time."

Forsling looks like he can be a very good player. Getting better every game.

Panik is rough around the edges but he is showing they may have "something" in him. I'm just not sure what "something" is yet.

Kempny looks like a nice player as the year goes on, but he and Panik are also 26 and 25 respectively.

Motte is serviceable. But his skills suggest—third liner and there's nothing wrong with that. let me ask you, other than scoring a goal on a fat rebound in a wide open side, (yippee) give me the clear-eyed, well-supported assessment of Motte's ability that says he is a top 6 NHL winger on a good team. Other than the "youth movement" narrative.

Schmaltz has obvious upside. He's just not ready to play in the NHL in the role he needs to when he arrives.

Hinostroza to me looks like Adam Burish 2.0, with less grit.

So I will own up on those things and I have already admitted that Forsling and Motte have exceeded my expectations.

I just have to be honest and try to limit the fanboy crap in what I write. And there is a LOT of fanboy crap surrounding a few of these kids. Not unusual. But . . .

- John Jaeckel

IF Panik finds consistency he might be a 50 point guy that will add a physical element. If not he's another Bickell.

Interesting analogy with Hino and Burish. Hino has much more speed though. Maybe Motte is a Burrish 2.0?

Hawks have scored the most goals in the NHL

Which would be amazing....if it weren't for the fact that they've also given up the most goals in the NHL...
