That's because Chrome sucks. But it is better than Firefox with their autoplay videos bullpoop, that you can't turn off anywhere in the preferences, when you open something in a new tab and then have to navigate to the tab and pause the "video" it's a real pain. YouTube, I'm talking about YouTube, obviously.

It works, at least with ABP installed. It's great for annoying banner ads on sites that make you turn off adblock to use their site.
