Where do we all stand on the pass back to our goalie in OT?
Part of me thought it was a great idea, basically a 4th player, allowing us to re-group and change for fresh guys. Part of me cringed and boo'ed just like the Philly fans in the rink... some of those passes back to Nilly were from inside the Philly zone - FruitPeddler
I thought it was a great idea personally. I've seen them struggle with getting out of the zone altogether, so to have that extra option be used was brilliant to me since it at least let them keep possession rather than try something stupid and turn it over. |

When I saw the preseason rankings and so many people pick us for last in the league, I couldnt understand what they were looking at.Boy...looks like they really got it right.
This is gonna be a LONG winter. |

I like how people complain about the 550 guys and say they won't listen to them, but come here and think it's fine. I think a lot of it is they know they would be the ones getting cut off or hung up on, because they keep talking the same crap over and over again. I would take bhh back if we could get rid of 3 or 4 other posters. |

I agree with this. I just think they need to work on executing it faster. It'll be more effective if they can do that. |

I gotta admit to not watching the 3 on 3 too closely - mostly because it makes me cringe - but I saw what I think was the "last" time they did that (I honestly didn't know htey had done it prior to that) and as I was looking up and watching the play, I thought:
They were struggling to gain the zone and rather than try to force some pass that, as you posted yourself - resulted in game winning goals the other way - I saw them take advantage of all the open ice to reset (like power plays do in their zone). |

The night our goalie flubs the pass and the puck goes into our net we will trash the idea. |

The Sabres aren't the first team to employ that tactic, nor will they be the last. |

That third period just underscores the lack of talent at the moment. Flyers big boys took over and 2 of ours were press box. No big deal. |

with one of the best players to ever play the game as his captain and top line center.
and with #2 overall pick that has won the Calder, the Hart, The Conn Smythe as his second line center.
Dan doesn't has NEAR that kind of top end talent here..... |

To be fair, Bylsma did some of his best work when those two or one of them were injured. 87 and 71 missed a ton of games during a few year stretch. They never bottomed out |

I agree, I think the frustration of the last 10 minutes of the game sitting back on our heels and not moving up ice to attack just left a bad taste in my mouth when seeing them pass it ALLLLLLL the way back to our own end to regroup. I do think it's a good tactic-- just gotta get the right guys out there for 3v3 in the first place |
