Stashu mentioned earlier he had some family stuff to do and wouldn't be around. Haven't seen much of nfph in general lately.

Besides, he may have quirky opinions about things, but he's not calling anyone names or being inappropriate. Technically, he's not really doing anything wrong. If people would just ignore him (myself being one of them) he would probably go away faster.

It works both ways however, the other night there was an issue with me and another poster that I didn't start, posts were vanishing faster then you could hit the refresh button. He made his point and doesn't need 2 blogs to keep going with it. IMO.

Not saying I necessarily agree. I'm just glad he seems to have vacated for at least a little while.

Yes, but he also could have walked away or traded him for a small return, and then filled his roster spot in some other way (Free Agency, another trade, waiver claim, etc.). I'm not saying Murray made the wrong decision. I'm just saying the notion that he had not choice but to make that decision is false. A GM's job is to find a way to make it work.
- buffalofan19

Agreed on that.

All of those options will be available at the end of this season as well, and if he plays well, and Murray wants to trade him at the trade deadline, he can do that and potentially get more for him then he could either this past offseason as he will still be an RFA.

I think he would have accepted the smaller return if the team had gotten Vesey and Okposo.

I'll be at the game tonight. By the time I get home, I'll be in bed shortly thereafter. If he's here again tomorrow, I'll just keep posting pictures of trolls again.

One troll picture you post will be worth more than the combined 74 posts he 'shared' with all of us the past few days.

I'm convinced he thinks he is Nick Naylor incarnate from Thank You For Smoking with his line of reasoning.

Here's an interesting item I recognize from my own rugby and baseball days - the sports I actually played - but something I didn't think about until I heard Mike Robataille talking on WGR yesterday (I know he's crotchety and mostly crazy, but his point was interesting.) He said there should be no question whatsoever that Kulikov is intended to play on the top pair with Risto, and that it will almost certainly be tried in the next few weeks.

But he claimed that a defensive pair is never really two equals, and that there is always a dominant guy - who is primarily responsible for clearing the puck out of the zone; and marking the opponent's "ace" threat on the ice - and a secondary guy, whose job it is to help the primary guy. He says Risto and Kuli have both been used over their career as the primary guy in their pairings, and it is taking Kuli a while to get used to reacting as a secondary.

That's why Gorges is remaining in the top pair: at least for now, even with his lower level of talent, he complements Risto better as a pairing. I got the sense it was kinda like old time dancing: you cant have two people trying to lead or they step all over one another's toes. Once Kuli gets more accustomed to following, rather than leading, the switch will be made and the franchise expects it will be a far greater result when everyone can play closer to their true talent level.

This makes sense. But that brings up the question...why are we trying to jam a square peg into a round hole? Wouldn't it have been a better idea to bring in a guy that already is comfortable being a "secondary" guy?

Robataille didn't make it seem like the tendencies are carved in stone - it's just an adjustment, not an evolution.

That's why that Myers Tallinder pair worked so well, Myers was free to do his thing and he knew Tallinder was back there covering his ass.

But Gorges is only playing about 75% of the TOI of Risto, so Risto's been playing with other guys. I haven't looked at the shift charts which I used to love on Waronice. If anyone knows where you can find them now I would be much obliged. So I don't know who, I'd guess Kulikov. I don't think Risto is getting 7 minutes of PP time a night, although he does get a lot, so there's still a lot of time missing that Gorges isn't playing on the top pair with Risto.
