And now Bickel has more goals than Toews

Toews looks "spooked" to me.. Very hesitant to shoot.

The whole team is hesitant to shoot. Tootoo, Schmaltz, Panarin, Panik and Kane all had chances to put the puck on net with minimal hinderance and decided to pull up and try to pass. Likely one of the main reasons we are getting grossly outshot in games.

Since their 0 - 2 start the boys are 4 - 1 - 1.

... and it's been a pretty ugly 4-1-1.

Good on them, but they didn't deserve to win tonight again.

If they can keep grinding out points and they actually click, look out.

"LET's Get Some Runs Sukkers" per Bill. come on Cubs!...Do It !

Tonight the Cubs look like a club that couldn't score with 4 consecutive walks.

All or nothing with this bunch.

Toews looking like a 10.5M ...50 point center.

For that money the man needs to produce. "Leadership" ain't worth that kinda cake in a hard cap sport.

...and nice comeback by the Hawks. Nice to steal 2 pts. on the road, since they're are gonna need 'em as they battle for the 8th seed in March.

I don't know what the future really holds for this team, but scraping up these mostly ugly wins is actually impressive. You gotta think as the team gels developing that chemistry and the young guys start to settle in the team will play better and more consistent overall games. I think the upside of this team is still very much unknown at this point, but winning games like this is a good sign.
- kwolf68

I think it's more like when the young guys get sent down to Rockford and replaced by veteran acquisitions. At least Schmaltz and Hino, maybe Motte. Hartman can stay for now.

gotta think the PK is going to improve significantly as the season rolls on. Panik good enough if he's playing with Toews and Kane; might actually have two scoring lines again. If the third could provide some offense and the fourth can do fourth line things, the Hawks could be in business.

With what salary cap money can such moves be made?

Agreed. I mean, it has to, right?

This is the worst display I can recall on the PK in recent times.

I think Moose, Desi and maybe even Lundberg could help in that department as the season rolls on.

in this case I'm thinking bottom a six type player or two, probably need to go with a roster of 22.

Don't the Hawks have plenty of those? I'd argue the Hawks need more scoring punch in the support role...more 4th line grinders won't improve this team at all. What they need is an influx of skill, which is why I think they will be patient with Schmaltz, Motte and Hartman.

Schmaltz needs to show more in the next ten games or so, otherwise they might prefer a vet. Kruger can center Motte and Hartman, Desi or Ras can center the fourth. Motte and Hartman can't let up though or one or both could be replaced by veterans for a playoff run.

I agree he needs to show some improvement/development, but get real, WHO can the Hawks get for what they have to offer? The farm is barren and moving quality people on the current roster creates holes there. Oh yea, salary cap. Didn't you see the Hawks swing and miss on 3 FAs? Two of which probably were salary related. This team is pretty much what we got in my view.

The Hawks aren't playing their best yet they're still getting points, I'll take that.

There are two ways to look at it:

-They are doing it with mirrors, not a very good team, and don't have far to fall

-They are still a great team, winning games despite play that is unbecoming of what they've been accustomed to and once they gel together will run away with it

Of course the truth is probably somewhere in between being not a very good team and a great team...will be fun to figure out which fringe they end up closest to.

Hawks with the 3rd best goal differential in the conference at a whopping +1

Just 1 game out of 1st in the Central

Learning on the fly with tons of youth and literally the worst PK of all time.

Things could be MUCH worse

Adam Larsson is so pedestrian. Hall is a thoroughbred.
- EnzoD

And because Oilers off to 7-1 start idiot media will point to Larsson trade and say how the "New" defense is the cause.

Simply put....A solid, often spectacular, Talbot is the REAL reason. That, and a still potent offence!
