Dude guys get sick and when they do they're not allowed to play. It happens Price missed 60 something games last year and then the first 2 weeks of the season this year because of the flu. Would you be saying the same thing? Of course not, because he doesn't play for the Sabres. Lehner's underlying numbers were very good last year on a bad ankle. He's not the problem. You want to talk about other guys, fine. But you're starting to sound like Ripped, blaming Eichel for getting hurt.
- Wetbandit1

I'm not blaming Eichel or anyone who is sick, I was just using Lehner as an example. I think you're still missing the point that I'm trying to make. Basically, we are now icing a team that for the most part is our new team, our new core of guys. And, just because Kane and Eichel are not in the line up, they already look like the 2014 Sabres, and that's just scary. Something's not working here. Yes, it's early, but the writing is on the wall to consider doing something already this early in the season because we have obvious problems.

Understandable. But we were last place 14 months ago, let's face it, by design. We didn't have to be historically bad. And I'm not denying that there will be growing pains that will take several seasons. But it's the build up of little things. For example, we gave up pick #21 in a deep draft to Ottawa for Lehner their 3rd goalie in line. Game 1 last year, 20 minutes in, he takes himself out by tripping over literarily nothing, and the loses more than half of the season. Now he's back and is expected to be our starter, BUT he's already missing games do to illness. At this point, it's really WTF are you going to do your job or not? This chit is getting old.

"And I'm not denying that there will be growing pains that will take several seasons."

Yet we're 6 games in and u want ppl traded &/or fired

Are we supposed to fire or trade someone every time there's some sort of slump?
The best teams have slumps. Even the best players have slumps.
What the Sabres did 5 or 6 years ago is NOT relevant to the current group of coaches & players.

The only consistent thing is your disappointment
And I get it, it sucks
But making massive moves 6 games in is way too soon

Maybe I did miss your point of that joke post, but Lena Headey is a babe so thanks for putting up her picture.

Unless Moulson scores 25+ I think we should try to trade him while we can
- chilliard77

I agree...
but that's if we can get someone willing to take him
He's got 2 more years after this

Our best bet might be Vegas
But I think they'll have quite a few overpriced guys to choose from
Hopefully Moulson strikes their fancy

I think youre being impatient. Yeah maybe your core is in place . Or is it? A quality core has minimum 9 players.

2 scoring Centers
3 scoring Wingers
1 top end 2-way center
2 top pair D
1 2nd pair D
1 Goalie

Do you have all those players now at this stage of their development? If you are missing even 1 of those pieces than your not a very deep team. No point in even looking to replacement players when injuries creep up.

We've been having a slump for 43 of 46 years. But seriously, I didn't not say we had to do something major. I am suggesting maybe putting some more pressure on the players or harder practices. Sticking a few in the press box might work. A pick up off the waiver wire might do something. But what we are seeing is bad, boring hockey, and its a hard habit to break once it sets in.

No, we don't have everything in place yet, we're still building, but we have a lot who will be here for the long haul. Effort seems to be lacking though, and that's a disease that spreads fast. I expect coaching to address that, and I'm not seeing it, I think that's our biggest issue right now.

It may be jumping the gun at six games in, but it's not completely unfounded. It's the pattern of this team, the modus operandi that we're all so used to. It's players regressing, coaching that seems they don't know what hell they're doing, players taking nights off, and players ALWAYS injured. It's the same story over and over, and people are sick of watching the same show. The team that showed up against Minn. looked no better than the team that was iced when we were tanking for McEichel, that is not acceptable anymore even if Kane and Eichel are not in the line up. Time to start righting the ship or move players, or fire people, but this garbage we're watching is a slap in the face to the fans.

He's not wrong. At all.

It's never as good as it seems, or as it could be with anything in this organization.

I feel like I've been waiting on the "if everything goes right, we could be good this year" my whole life. I hope we can be a team that even if it goes wrong, we can still be good.

It's what we're attempting to build towards...
Keep in mind, we've only been "trying to be good" for a year & 6 games

I know, I think the goal is still on the horizon. But I think we'll need to make some changes between then and now.

I said we didn't have to do anything major, like trade Reinhart or Risto. But, yet, go ahead and make a trade, I'm perfectly okay with sending D-lo packing. Hell, I'm okay with firing this coach, he's completely passionless, and more than likely isn't taking this team anywhere while he is at the helm.

We are at a critical point in our juncture, and I've been watching this team for over 30 years, some guys on here have been watching this team since 1970, but a lot of guys here have also haven't seen that many Sabres teams come and go. But, what I'm saying is that I will always support this team, and I'm not trying to tear them down just to get a rise out of people here. But, I do see things that worry me with this rebuild so far. There is a pattern of acceptance throughout the Sabres history that I do not want following over to this new team. Now, that may not be what people want to hear, so I guess we'll just have to have a difference of opinion. But lack of effort and coaching that lets players get away with it is a really bad problem that will kill this rebuild. There's also not knowing how to use players right, or how to properly develop them.

Case in point: Girgensons was what looked like to be a solid winning pick in 2012, big, mean, and determined. He even said only death will keep him from being an impact player in this league. Now, three years into his career he's a ghost of what he was, the leader we once called lioneater who would put himself through a brick wall to make a play. So, what happened? And, if it happened to him, who's next?

I hope I'm wrong, but I do somewhat see the signs of a chit storm on the horizon if the team is not careful with the rest of this rebuild. Others may think things or going swimmingly, but I guess we'll just have to wait to find out.

Most of us are gonna wait until Christmas before we say they have ' arrived'...

Crazy thing is, we always saw something in their play where we knew they were gonna lose...now it looks like their gonna win mid way through every game. Buffalo was the only game they looked like poop.
