agreed... he is taking too many high risk chances...

last night for instance....wtf was he thinking? tied at 0-0...its a 2 on 2, he tries to strip the skater of the puck, fails, making it a 2 on 1.

that was just a bad decision on his part... no getting around it.

Got to read the play better than that.... As you said, 0-0 with 2on2 and the puck was bouncing.

Rielly's been spending to much time with Gardiner and he's starting to rub off on him.

Jake must go.

So must Hunwick, Marincin and to a lesser extent Polak.

yup... bouncing puck or no thats a chance you only take when you are down late in the game and are trying o open things up to score.

he should have stayed back and cut off the lane to the net... not give the guy a free pass

i am not going to blame gardiner for rielly's dumb choices

gardiner makes enough of those on his own lol

i hate to say it, but he has made a horrible bone headed move in pretty much every game this year. I don't know if he is trying too hard or what. He sure needs to be more consistent before he could be called a good #1 Dman. He is really a good second pairing guy right now

He has a long way to go before he should even be in consideration as a number 1 dman.

I really wish I could disagree, but it's the truth. He is still very young so I am holding out hope that his game will grow with the team's and hopefully will get better when the Leafs get some actual NHL Dmen playing with him.

I wish you didn't say that.

I was thinking the same thing... tons of raw talent and speed, but pretty mediocre offensive output and prone to looking clueless at times.

We can hope the team grows together or we really will be the Oilers.

Shea Weber is going to get 90 points this year. Radulov is a top-5 forward in the league.

The Habs are a very good team, but right now, every single possible thing is going for them. They are contenders in the east. They are not the greatest team to ever step on the ice.

With all due respect to the remarkable professor Hunwick, we need a good stable vet that can teach the kids how to play the right way. Coaching and drills are fine for technical purposes, but you need someone that can do it on the ice who's been there in every situation......that can guide the young guys to making smart decisions by instinct.

He started to look better at the end of last year and during the World Cup. I don't think it's coincidence that he was being used in an offensive role during those times

Don't know if you're serious about that first part, but.....Yikes.

Meh, what else is new? That team seems to have golden horseshoes up their ass a lot. I see them getting late powerplays in games that are tied, etc. And yes they are a good team, when they have that confidence with Price being between the pipes. It changes a team's whole outlook when they trust the guy back there.

Ps. God I hate them.

Agreed. He needs to have a good defensive guy with him, because at the moment he seems to be turning into a defensieve...

i hope they keep him paired with zaitsev (who i think has been the best d man for the leafs so far this year)... maybe rielly will start to trust his partner more and know when and where to take a high risk chance... once someone like zaitsev figures out rielly's tendencies he will know when to cover and when to get himself open

i hope.

But a guy who still somewhat 'has it'. Tough to find.
