I mean they have one of the best young centers in game
One of the best elite Young defenseman
They tanked like us and they have a brighter future right now - GERBE!!!75PTS
Assuming you mean Huberdeau - a guy drafted in 2011, so it took 4(?) years for him to help push that core into the good team they are
A stud defenseman drafted #1 overall - something Buffalo hasn't had since when?
2010 - 3rd pick
2011 - 3rd pick
2013 - 2nd pick
2014 - 1st pick
A bit "easier" to build a core that way, no? |

What injuries does Toronto have? They have such young studs that people like to boast about...yet their record is worse than Buffalo's - a team with a legit top end prospect sidelined plus another 20 goal scorer with broken ribs.
I'll take standings over stats, no matter how much I'd like to see a leaderboard filled wit Buffalo players. - stashu
Agreed. We are 3-3-2. Not horrible, not good. Peoples concerns over the roster haven't been validated, same as the people who love the roster, haven't been validated.
I don't get the inability to just ignore some things.

I agree, specially on the penalty front. Though the silver lining being our PK is actually pretty solid - Havic3814
So much for our "D" being a problem. |

I think the first comment (not yours) was about the Panthers, not the Leafs. And now you are changing the team. - Lilroot9
Pretty sure he might mean Florida? (Elite d-man being mentioned) |

Risto is in some elite company right now in terms of avg. TOI (Weber, Karlsson, Keith) and his +/- isn't an outliar either - feetontheair22
Hopefully they can tone it down some. He's not a fantastic skater, that will tire him eventually |

In no way am I saying they're a top team, and of course I was joking about the playoff position talk yesterday during the game, but they're still doing well for missing a dynamic player like Eichel. |

I think he's talking about Barkov, not Huberdeau. But they also have Bjugstad who's been good, but also injured at the moment like Huberdeau. I think they'll probably be getting Bjustad back in about another 2-4 weeks though.

Gotcha, good point, but still, a guy drafted a year ahead of Buffalo's high picks. And it doesn't hurt when you have some guy named Jagr on your team (and as good a goalie as Luongo too) |

Exactly. The Philly game is the one that is the outlier in that category. It failed us big time in that game.
Rome wasn't built in a day, and the team has work to do, but the two wins this morning are something they can build off of. - HonkFortheGoose
they were not just wins, they were 2 games where the sabres clearly outplayed the other team from start to finish |

Hmm, ok. The way I read it he was talking about Toronto.
Panthers are ok, but will have to wait until they reach the playoffs and actually do something. |

Last 2 games definitely. But to keep some context
Winnipeg was out two top 4 D men (Trouba, Myers) and a top 6 center (Little)
Florida was missing 4 pieces to their roster as well
Montreal was out Price
Vancouver out Miller
I'd like to see us controlling play more. Every team is going to have injuries. Sure, not an Eichel, but some. |

if he plays 3 more years, plus this year
there is a very good chance luongo ends up 2nd in all time wins for a goalie

While we didn't exactly control play, I thought we played pretty well. We did two things that we haven't done in previous games where we got a ton of shots and no goals: get premium scoring chances while limiting the amount of the other team's premium scoring chances. Gotta walk before you can run - I think we're trending in the right direction. |

Well, Trouba is their own fault, not like he's missing due to injury, but using excuses such as "well, I hope they beat X team, look who they were missing" while the team we cheer for is missing their "best" player isn't making me feel sorry for any other team.
It's likely a guarantee that at least one game this week they'll look like they did against Minnesota the other night or something, but as has been said by many this short season already - as long as their record is roughly what it is now for the duration of Eichel's recovery, I'm a happy camper. |

Then comes the yelling "I don't care about those other teams!!"
and apparently every player is predisposed to be begging to play for Buffalo, so it's ONLY Murray's fault that every great signee isn't a Sabre |
