Well can you agree if the defense doesn't stop the Toronto Maple Leafs then will you be worried that's a true test right there if they can't stop those Maple suckers
If you can't beat a top-five lottery team then what does that make us
I guess we'll find out on Thursday - GERBE!!!75PTS
No we cant agree, Pittsburgh won the Stanley cup last year, they lost to Toranto and Edmonton last year, they beat Vancouver 5-4. the 3 worst teams in the league (last year) it happens... Give me a break, I guess Pittsburgh should have picked first using your logic

Hola, Goosie!
Two things:
1) You headed to the game Thurs? I'll keep an eye out if so.
2) Bunch of us should do a meet up for a game. Heck, I'll even drive to the Southtowns. - nfph
I'm not unfortunately. My next one is Wednesday against the Sens.
I'm in the northtowns now (Tonawanda to be exact) so unless we're going to visit DD at work no need to drive to the southtowns that I can see.
Welcome back |

Nice! Much as I like that place, feel that DD should be let off the hook for an evening. |

I see no indication of this . he was playing decent in camp and teammates seem to like him. So why the label ? - cabin
Sometimes "talented" guys just never fit - not sure exactly what it is. Sample size is small at moment, but I am concerned with a guy like Kane accepting a reduced 3rd line type role.
He just seems to be the exact type of guy we pray Vegas takes in the expansion draft - just unsure of fit and the cap clearance would be great |

Agreed! A get together for a game would be fun. I'd totally be down for that.
Saw your post about having a rough month. Hope things start looking up, whatever it is that's keeping you down. |

He'll be better than Derek Grant. If he's better than the player he's replacing the team improves.
Forgot why I left this place and it's because of this poop. I'm gone again. - Zschalberg
So you want him to be better then grant ? Great I want him to be the top-five player in the NHL if that means they have to resting in between games then so be it .
This is Buffalo sports were talking about they know how to destroy an athlete I mean look at Sammy look at McCoy
People cant put their hopes and dreams on jack that's all I'm saying that's why we need Sam to step up to be that second overall pick that we all knew he could be |

Why is he going on a reduced 3rd line role? How well is that line of Ennis-Reinhart-Girgensons doing that he's relegated to being below them? Because last I looked Ennis had like 2 points, Girgensons 3, and I'm going to guess Reinhart is right there with them. Kane is an instant upgrade to Girgensons on that line. Then Eichel replaces Sam and Sam goes back to center. So 9-15-23, like last year. That's a better 2nd line than 82-22-12, which then can be your "3rd" line and you can play equal amounts depending on how they're playing. |

Leafs won't hold the tie breaker this season
and this would be our 4th in a row. Yes I want us too win it . But poop happens. I will still go to sleep after the game and wake up at 5:30 for work. Rinse repeat. |

A) Jack is not a top-5 player in the NHL no matter how much rest he gets.
B) No one said work him like a horse until his ankle gets destroyed, I said the team will be better when he comes back. No one said once he comes back he will get 50 goals in 39 games and the team won't lose again, I said the team will be better when he comes back. Being better than the player that he replaces means that the team will be better when he comes back. |

Few people out there saying Jack shouldn't come back at all this year because he will never be 100% by that time. I know he is a work horse when it comes to the gym and conditioning. But that injury is one that will linger. For once in my life and the last time, i actually agree with Gerbe. |

You're the one that's not getting it. Teams lose to teams worse than them all the time. It happens. It's why the games are played and things aren't just done according to how they look on paper.
It's also a divisional game, which always means anything can happen. I get what you're saying. I think it's an important game, and one that I'd like to see them win. But there aren't really any guarantees in life. Other than death and taxes. The sky is not falling if they lose tomorrow. Would it be disappointing? Sure. But it's not the end of the world either. |

WRONG! Losing to a "bottom 5" team means ONLY that you're worse than them...

according to all the EXPERTS, it should be an easy win, For the leafs.
they are better than us with Jack and Kane.... so we don't have a chance we shouldn't even show up. just look at all the predictions before the season started.
Matthews will probably score 8 goals on us, because he's a hockey god. |

No man, it's a valid concern
If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order: The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage). The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season. NOTE: In standings a victory in a shootout counts as one goal for, while a shootout loss counts as one goal against.
That means that if we have the exact number of points as Toronto and the exact number of ROWs as Toronto and we lose this game we might lose the 3rd tiebreaker. Last time the 1st tiebreaker was needed for one team to be in and one to be out of the playoffs was 2012-13 (Minnesota got in and Columbus didn't since Minny had 26 and Columbus had 24 wins). |

All I am saying right now is I like the balance that we have and the overall defensive responsibility we have shown the last few games - If we are still playing well in a few weeks - I would not want to see the lineup completely re-shuffled to accommodate Kane |

Because of what exactly? He's not wrong.
Even last night, it was a solid gritty win. But it's not a win you should plan on getting most of the time. They were out shot, outplayed from the 1st on, and were fortunate on the two goals. Brodin passed it right to O'Reilly for the first one, and the second one hits Larsson shaft and goes in.
They are on the right path, but others are right, expect inconsistency. Eichel will help tremendously. But I am expecting the playoffs. Let's look like a playoff team first |
