Isn't that the "dull" section of the Hero chart?
- buffalofan19

This would be the extreme of the dull section in the shot chart. Its unlikely that trend continues but i found it really odd considering it was mccabe and franson.

Credit where its due, the number of high danger scoring chances against has dropped drastically.

I saw it out there somewhere but when mccabe and franson have been on the ice there have only been 5 scoring chances going either way. Seriously you'd think the puck was just sitting in the neutral zone that whole time but thats pretty good defensively...i think.

- Sabresfan-365

I've noticed in a lot of games (not just ours, but league wide) the amount of time teams spend just trying to get through the neutral zone has been crazy.

hahahaha... I actually brought this up a couple days ago.... I think we are underrated. I don't think we are elite by any means but as a collective team they are doing well.

and Risto is turning into a monster out there, I hope he can keep the upward trend going... he has been fantastic this year.

I think they are doing pretty well for not having there #1 and #4 top goal scorers from last year.

I give GMTM plenty of crap but a while ago he mentioned something that was absolutely money. Simply put, the offence hasn't caught up to the defence in terms of coaching. Its quite similar to when zone defence became a huge thing in basketball.

And that's the scary part it shows we can't draft very well IMO
to know that our season could be over with with just one player out it's not good at all

But they've played well (well enough) without him so...? That kind of loss would be big on just about any team in the league so i dont really know what you're getting at. If you were going to highlight an example of poor drafting it would have to be when they're healthy but not playing well.

We haven't even gotten through 1 month of the season yet. We're not in last place in the conference, let alone the league. We're 6th in the league in goals against, and that's without our #1 goaltender for 3 of the 10 games.

You really need to settle down.

Just Meh?

Top point players in NHL (filtered to show players Sabres faced)

3. McDavid - 13 pts (0 points vs Sabres)
6. Giroux - 13 pts (1 assist vs Sabres)
7. Simmonds - 12 points (1 assist vs Sabres)
8. Marchessault - 12 Points (0 points vs Sabres)
15. Voracek - 11 points (0 points vs Sabres)
19. Nylander - 11 points (0 points vs Sabres)
21. Matthews - 10 points (0 points vs Sabres)
24. Shea Weber - 10 points (1 assist vs Sabres)
27. Galchenyuk - 10 points (1 assist vs Sabres)
28. Ryan Suter - 10 points (1 goal, 1 assist vs Sabres)
34. Frolik - 9 points (1 goal vs Sabres)
36. Scheifele - 9 points (0 points vs Sabres)
38. Gallagher - 9 points (2 goals vs Sabres)
42. Streit - 9 points (1 goal, 2 assists vs Sabres)

So the top 14 guys that have played the Sabres have a total of 4 goals, 7 assists.

They average 0.957 points per game (each), played a total of 15 games (played Minnesota twice, Suter) for an average of 0.73 points per game.

That looks pretty good to me! I would not say the D is meh, but pretty good. Underrated would imply we were expected to be a lot worse and I think that term fits well here. Now it is a small sample size, but you can say that about anyone drawing any stats year-to-date.

OK but I look at the bigger picture Who are the people that are going to be here for the future ? It isn't molasses or fossil or Kane etc it's about the young guys that's what I watch every night because those guys are our future not those guys they won't be here . I haven't seen one young guy yet that has stepped up and said damn we might have a gem on her hands but yet the flyers and leafs have these young guys stepping in and producing

Defensively this team is holding its own, surprisingly I might add.

Offensively this team is just meh, which was kind of expected without Eichel and Kane.

For junior meh is exactly what they need to do until Eichel and Kane are back...

You're not ready, I am not sure if you'll ever be.

Good thing the future isn't now then, or we'd be (frank)ed. Relax a little bit. The only high picks we have are Reinhart 2, who is not nearly as bad this year as some people on here are saying, and Eichel 2, who is hurt and hasn't played, and Risto 8, is a beast. Toronto has Matthews 1, Marner 4, Nylander 8, and Rielly was 5. And they're, aside from Matthews, older than our guys, so they should be making more of an impact.

At this point I would say he is not a generational talent (did anyone think he was?) but a great player that needs to play with other great players to get lots of points.

His skills are valued as the guy to feed other great players with chances. He is not playing great right now, but he did make the O'Reilly / Okoposo Line way better. They had more points with him on their line then when they were with anyone else. Now the coach can't stack a line, but I think Ennis, Girgensons have had many great chances to score and are not. Not placing blame on others, but that is Reinhart's strength (supplying players with great scoring chances, but they need to score on them).

Yes, I do know you were being sarcastic. It just bothers me the people think this guy is garbage in his 2nd (full) year at 20-21 years old. Looking at that draft though, did anyone think he would be a complete stud? (really only Ekblad was view that way, rightfully so). We took the best player available (for his entire career, in my opinion of course, which is yet to be seen). So remember that Reinhart is horrible when he makes amazing passes to spring Eichel, O'Reilly, Okposo for great chances (GOALS!). That is his strength. They can all score on their own for sure, but they will have higher totals with Reinhart on their lines.

Hey, I know what I see when I look in the mirror:

A ground beef quesadilla doesn't sound very good, maybe a steak one. Love the hard shell mighty's I usually get 2 hard shell mighty's ground beef, no tomato, small sour cream, hot(they seem to have backed off a bit on drowning the tacos in sauce which is nice). I had a steak panini from Tim Horton's today. Gotta say I was disappointed, they changed the rolls, now it's on sourdough sliced bread and there was like no steak on it at all. Should've gotten the turkey club.
