Dude's already racked up a 30 billion dollar budget deficit so I doubt he's concerned about who pays bills and how.
As for his plan he's already stated that everyone is welcome so they're taking him up on it.
Pretty clear plan as far as I can tell. - dt99999

the only numbers I've found so far on refugees and crime rates show a decrease or no change... but the studies are pretty loose, they just look at overall change in crime rates, not rates from that specific group. |

I agree the issue needs to be addressed, but "state of emergency" is hyperbolic, IMO.
You have articles like the one from the Sun that are throwing out a figure of 60,000 illegal immigrants to rile people up, but that number is pure BS, which, given the source, is unsurprising.
It's estimated that now, at the height of the issue, 150 people are crossing the border per day. Multiply that by 365, and you get under 55000, so even a very generous rounding doesn't get you to 60k... and factor in the effect of winter, and the number drops.
The people that are "a drain on the system" are the ones making themselves known to authorities, so while the backlog is worrying, and will likely get longer, they'll in the system... and what's required is more people working on the job.
There are undoubtedly criminals in the group that won't be allowed in under normal circumstances, but if, say, 40,000 people come in this year, how many can you really expect to be criminals?(honest question, any numbers on how likely a refugee is to be, or become a criminal in their new country?)
And while these people may be a drain on welfare at first, they didn't come all this way for a handout, they came to start a new life. Studies show that refugees, over time contribute more than they cost.
So yes, the government needs to take action to control the situation... but it's not a crisis by any means. - Feeling Glucky?
Okay but you legally cannot be a refugee from the United States. |

I was more less referencing your takeaway about it not being a crisis. If allowed to fester without an outlined plan about who and how many it will rapidly approach crisis level and will put a strain on various health and welfare services in these cities.
Trudeau should plainly state his intentions on this growing issue. The law states the crossings are illegal. As the leader of our nation he should tell us how we can reconcile this fact while helping the exact people who need it. We talked about this before and you bend pretty far left thinking open borders are fine and dandy. I believe in helping people too, but with a plan and purpose clearly stated by those we are paid to make these decisions.
Almost approaching midterm before the next election. JT is losing his shine and is continuing to ride the fence on many issues as well as blatantly going back on crucial campaign promises. I fear the PC party may gain a foot, especially if the NDP bleed some of the dissatisfied people who voted Liberal last time around(only party I have ever voted for thus far) like me. |

oh my god if only there was some crisis like The Others and the army of the dead on the way and we could just send all these immigrants to some of the undermanned keeps on the wall to fight them |

Glucker thinks, god bless his big heart, that Canada can manage every refugee on the planet. They can't manage the 150 celebrations adequately.

If we really had a "crisis" then I think at least the Canadian government should get a say in where they settle the refugees within Canada.
There are lots of underpopulated areas that need people |

I'm with you on this one. I agree, people need help, but it needs to be done in an organized and proper fashion. If there's a backlog, then make the gate bigger, but just letting people cross a (frank)ing ditch is madness and not how you go about these things. |

Most of these folks are landing in Montreal with 20% making their way to Toronto.

Desperately.
There are towns in Sask with empty houses that need help.
How about giving the towns an opportunity to apply as a settlement area for the refugees along with an infrastructure grant, and then saying to the people coming in that "Yes, you may live in Canada, but you have to live in______ for at least the first 3 years." |
