My Sister in-law (who lives in Alabama) remarried to my now Brother in-law, who had two Sons, who both were totally into Civil war history........... but did not really discuss it with them at any length, to gain any perspective on their POVs on the Civil war.

I suspect those in the North, and those in the South have different perspectives on why the war occurred and each sides' reason for it.

have read some interesting articles on the issue, and from what I've learned, is that whatever reasoning, even from non slave owners in the South that felt compared to take up arms with those who were, is that is boils down to slavery in the end, as the entire Southern economy was so dependent on slave labour, that it could not function even for Non slave owners, without slave labour.
