Part of speech By the POTUS
There are those in the immigrants’ rights community who have argued passionately that we should simply provide those who are - D0PPELGANGER[here] illegally with legal status, or at least ignore the laws on the books and put an end to deportation until we have better laws. ... I believe such an indiscriminate approach would be both unwise and unfair. It would suggest to those thinking about coming here illegally that there will be no repercussions for such a decision. And this could lead to a surge in more illegal immigration. And it would also ignore the millions of people around the world who are waiting in line to come here legally. Ultimately, our nation, like all nations, has the right and obligation to control its borders and set laws for residency and citizenship. And no matter how decent they are, no matter their reasons, the 11 million who broke these laws should be held accountable.
Except the people covered by DACA were brought here, they didn't come of their own volition, and now they're facing deportation in as little as six months, to countries they have no family in, have no memory of, and where they need a language they may not even know.
As Obama said, they're American in every way, except for their papers. |

But what about the (quoted) Speech from the POTUS? Did he get something wrong, or do you just disagree with him?

You're entitled to your opinion........... but you're also disregarding the fact that DACA is about to expire, and the other fact is that Immigration reform/law is not in the purview of a single person, the POTUS in this case ........... Congress is responsible for Immigration and Immigration law reform .......... so as far as I can see, it's up to Congress to do the right thing and settle this issue, one way or another .............. kicking the can down the road, like your boy Obama did, is not the way to solve this issue. - D0PPELGANGER
And most importantly, you're not taking into account the amount of time, money and resources it would take to track down, house for a time, and eventually deport millions of people.
its a (frank)ing waste of resources to pander to a small percentage of Americans who are afraid the jobs they have no interest in will be lost. Its a (frank)ing non-issue in the larger scope of things that need to be addressed.
Basically the only ones who care are racists, Let's call it what it is and not hide behind the rule of law bullpoop from a Administration that has been in violation of the Constitution it claims to give two (frank)ing poops about. |

So do you agree or disagree with the excerpt for the Speech (above) made by the POTUS?
The children who were brought by their parents, into the USA illegally, are not Americans, as they were neither born in the USA, or were born of American Citizens.
This whole thing is a mess, and it should have been taken care of a long long time ago, and both parties, and a number of Presidents are to blame for letting it get to be a much better mess today ............... DACA was not and is not the answer ....... Congress must pass immigration reform, and end this issue one way or another.
As far as I'm concerned, the young, educated adults who are covered by DACA should apply to immigrate to Canada ............ they would be perfect additions to Canada, and would contribute to Canada right away. |

The president can absolutely use his executive authority in the way Obama did, unless you can find something in the constitution that says otherwise. Obama didn't "kick the can down the road"... he kept a group of people who did nothing wrong safe from deportation, while congress gets it's poop together. Perhaps if republicans were willing to actually participate in the political process, and didn't spend 8 years trying to obstruct everything Obama tried to do, the country would be in a better situation than it is now.
But hey, at least they're showing that they actually had a plan all along, right?
With regards to the bolded, how am I disregarding that? |

I don't think he said anything wrong, I think you're just trying to do your typical strawman poop.
DACA doesn't stop someone from being an illegal immigrant, it's amnesty for people who had a choice made for them - and it's a privilege they need to keep earning, while they, with help from congress, find a path to citizenship.
It allows them to be increasingly valuable members of US society, and improve the economy.
Tell me - outside of making excuses for the toddler in chief - who benefits from getting rid of DACA? How does doing this improve the USA? |

So you agree with the POTUS, and what he said in the excerpt of the speech I posted above.
So you also agree with the point made by Trump, in that it's up to Congress, and not an executive order, to reform the laws that govern immigration.
Never thought you'd ever agree with a Republican on anything.
I would suggest that young American adults, who are competing for the jobs that are being taken by illegal immigrants would benefit from rescinding DACA |
