Oh by the way .........
There are those in the immigrants’ rights community who have argued passionately that we should simply provide those who are [here] illegally with legal status, or at least ignore the laws on the books and put an end to deportation until we have better laws. ... I believe such an indiscriminate approach would be both unwise and unfair. It would suggest to those thinking about coming here illegally that there will be no repercussions for such a decision. And this could lead to a surge in more illegal immigration. And it would also ignore the millions of people around the world who are waiting in line to come here legally. Ultimately, our nation, like all nations, has the right and obligation to control its borders and set laws for residency and citizenship. And no matter how decent they are, no matter their reasons, the 11 million who broke these laws should be held accountable.
This wasn’t a quote from DJ Trump, or from Attorney General Sessions’ statement rescinding Obama’s executive DACA amnesty.
It was a part of a Barack Hussein Obama speech on immigration on July 1, 2010, two years before he decided to act contrarily to his own speech, and signed an executive order that was DACA |

So you agree with the POTUS, and what he said in the excerpt of the speech I posted above.
So you also agree with the point made by Trump, in that it's up to Congress, and not an executive order, to reform the laws that govern immigration.
Never thought you'd ever agree with a Republican on anything.
I would suggest that young American adults, who are competing for the jobs that are being taken by illegal immigrants would benefit from rescinding DACA - D0PPELGANGER
YES! Well, except there are no facts to back that up. Its the ultimate strawman argument.
Again, let's cut through all the bullpoop and look at the real issue at play here. The people who benefited from DACA were asked by the US government to come forward and register under the guise being that information would not be used against them. They did in good faith BECAUSE at its very essence, they are AMERICANS and more importantly, want to be.
To use that information to launch their asses out of a country that is pretty much all they know is (frank)ing criminal. As any rational person would view.
The reality is this shouldn't be too hard to rectify if the politicians have the (frank)ing balls to risk their cushy ass living and do the RIGHT (frank)ING THING.

You tried to lay some bait, it failed, but you still want credit for it.
Now go back and read my post, and you'll see that this had nothing to do with DACA, and isn't in direct contradiction at all. |

Interesting. The pod save America guys were just talking about how Trump cares more about "wins" than party lines. |

So what are the arguments for/against raising the debt limit for only 3 months? |

in this case, the only win is funds for hurricane harvey relief. making money available for recovery quicker. in a way he sort of saved the GOP from itself. no one would be happy with either party using those funds as a political pawn. its more complicated than that obviously but at the crux of this action, that is the main point.
with another hurricane bearing down on Florida, it isn't the time to Richard around with government shutdown games. |

it doesn't really solve anything. it just defers action. like i stated in the above post, the positive is it allows the government to function in the face of one disaster with a possible second one ready to do even more damage.

President Obama issued the order known as DACA (“deferred action on childhood arrivals”) in 2012 after failing to achieve his hopes of a broader amnesty. Obama himself had repeatedly denounced the concept as beyond presidential power. To quote only one example, from July 2010:
There are those in the immigrants’ rights community who have argued passionately that we should simply provide those who are [here] illegally with legal status, or at least ignore the laws on the books and put an end to deportation until we have better laws ...
Back when he made those remarks, Obama was hoping to pass a statute, the "Dream Act,” that would fully legalize the people ultimately protected by DACA. But the Dream Act stalled in the new Republican Congress elected in November 2010. Negotiations with Republican leaders to produce a more comprehensive immigration reform failed. |

The republican congress since they've had a majority, has basically done what they can to ensure nothing gets passed, and then complains when they're circumvented. And now that they have complete control, they have no idea how to get poop done, because the only thing that's been uniting them until now has been saying "no" to Obama. |
