It's little touches like that, and always making sure "Leafs" and "Toronto" are spelled without a capitalized letter, that make me believe he's real. - Feeling Glucky?

This is what professional politicians do, d0pps. They forge their "value and belief" systems around trends and political polls to get elected so they can continue to live high on the hog. It's a big joke, both sides know it and exploit it.
Examine the net worth's of Senators and MP's before and after their terms and you get a good idea of what it's all about. Money. Moolah. Cold hard cash. Social issues don't motivate any of these people, only to the point to get them their jobs. Greed does.

On the media was talking about how a lot of liberal politicians shifted their language on immigration to hide the negative aspects, as conservatives became more nativist(which in context is a hilarious term).
Everyone tries to make money. Some politicians still try to do good for the country. Others are Paul Ryan, but I think the majority of politicians get into it to help, in the way they see fit.

I like to think that this is the case at local levels but I'm far too cynical to believe that about people at the Federal level. Some yes, majority, not imo.

I think the vast majority get involved for altruistic motives. Its once they are in office that outside influences and the desire to retain office is when their values and integrity become compromised.

i like this calm logical conversation.
my opinion is a mixture of both. certainly a good amount of politicians got into it to help and just like with anything else there are some that got into it for whatever other intentions. i mean, if your start in politics was as the mayor of the town you grew up in or something then you probably had good intentions. then i guess there are also some that get in with good intentions and are poisoned along the way as they settle into a world where they are surrounded by other politicians.
either way i think we can all agree that it's hard to find a good one that you feel like you can really trust and that the higher up the chain you look the more difficult it becomes.
Billions in energy infrastructure spending, scuttled on his watch.
The last time there was so much heavy handed, poorly thought out federal interference was during the failed NEP in the 1980s when his father was in charge.

The Northern Gateway pipeline ($7.9 billion), the Pacific Northwest LNG project ($36 billion), and now likely the Energy East pipeline ($15.7 billion) are three privately funded infrastructure projects that would have materially strengthened the economy for decades — and all were scuttled......... http://business.financial...ing-scuttled-on-his-watch
