If you bothered to do a little research into early 20th Century American Politics, you might expand your knowledge on today's current political extremes
Obama Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan was so interested in the progressive/socialist movement's history, that she wrote her thesis at Princeton University, and was titled “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933.”
In it she wrote ......... “In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States.” This appears to be a comment on modern-day America, at least as it was in 1981.
Kagan’s verdict, of course, depends on how you define “socialist.” The modern socialist movement calls itself “progressive.”
But the history of the Progressive Party, which ran FDR’s former vice president Henry Wallace as its presidential candidate in 1948, really explains the underpinnings and the the current direction of the Democratic Party.
The Progressive Party was controlled by the Communist Party but efforts to work through the democratic process did not die out with its election defeat in 1948. Communists and “progressives” then targeted the Democratic Party for a takeover from within............. and they succeeded.
In reality, many Communist Party operatives were in control of the Progressive Party. Before it was even formed the Communist Party merged two of its front organizations, the National Citizens Political Action Committee (NC-PAC) and the Independent Citizens Committee of the Arts and Sciences, to form the Progressive Citizens of America (PCA), which became the organizing tool for the Wallace campaign.”
If you bothered to do a background check on Obama's former “Green Czar” , and now CNN political commentator Van Jones, you'd find out that was, and probably still is an anti-capitalist and avowed Communist Van Jones, who while in jail stated
"I met all these young radical people of color -- I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of. I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary. I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th By August, I was a communist."
And I'm just scratching the surface .......... if you really want to know, what you don't know, you need to inform yourself............ instead of taking what people like Van Jones in the left wing progressive mainstream media tell you what to think and say. - D0PPELGANGER
communism is great
It means you get an equal education and equal opportunity to not be a jackass like everybody else

Serious question: how many framed pictures of Joe McCarthy do you have?
Follow up question: how many can you see from your bed?
It's clearly not a system that would work... sounds nice on paper, but way too susceptible to corruption, before the communism part actually can even start.
You need to eliminate scarcity and corruption... and the scarcity problem is the easiest of the two to fix
That being said, coming from a family that grew up under one of the worst communist regimes... I struggle to see how US capitalism is superior. You're talking about a system so corrupt where there is an industry built up around imprisoning people for minor offences, with a powerful lobby that influences laws so that they can keep imprissoning more and more people. It's a system where countless families have to pick between poverty or letting infants die, a system where higher education is reserved for those who can afford it- but where many of the jobs that can help you afford it require said education.
It's so embarrassingly broken that it's not hard to see why people would look to communism as an improvement.
It's also a system that is eroding itself. The search for higher profits is leading to more and more automation, and will continue to do so, rendering a massive portion of the population unemployed... and we're not just talking about factory jobs. Computers are already rendering some lawyers obsolete(meh).

Look buddy, nice essay. But this really has nothing to do with what I said. Like, actually nothing. Beyond you being a paranoid weirdo.
Your meme's are a waste of time, but yes, I agree Trudeau is a poopbag for pulling electoral reform off the table and using fear-mongering tactics to justify it.

It was a very disappointing swerve to say the least, he is not a great policy maker. Or keeper I suppose. Excellent politician however, that much is obvious from how foreign press perceives him.

It's NOT Tru-D'Oh! who is an "excellent politician"....... it's his two top senior advisors, who used to work for both Dalton and Wynne ......... they're the brains behind this vacuous puppet of a PM.
Once he goes off script, it does not take long before he puts his foot in his mouth.

I don't know how many times I have to remind people, with short memories, I was in favour of John Kasich for the GOP nominee ......... not DJT.
Just because I don't believe everything the left wing progressive mainstream media says, or gets upset about, when referencing the POTUS, does not make him "my" knight.........
I accept the reality of the day, and American elected DJT with all his warts and shortcomings......... and there are large segments of society that just can't accept that the progressives, as hard as they tried, did not win the election.
