I think most here want Canucks to pick a side. Vegas Don and myself were the ones saying push for the playoffs.

I think13 games in we all know where they are heading. I think Benning needs to accept his losses and figure a way to move assets of expiring contracts and boat anchors

- VANTEL

We had a 9 game losing streak with 4 SO's last year too if I recall…good to get those things out of the way before playoffs...

Get NHL Center Ice and it isn't too late to pretend

I'm actually a big Flyers fan, but my Canucks will always be near and dear to my heart....I was born and raised here, I'll always be a fan, but it doesn't mean I have to accept pure ignorance on their part.

It was obvious to most, although I even said if they play well defensively they'll keep game close, which they've done, but it's painfully obvious they need to rebuild and go with a youth movement.

The Eriksson signing is looking more and more like such an albatross deal, egg once again on Bennings face....God I hate this franchise right now. I wish I was born in Winnipeg ........................

.....(frank) that, I hate the Leafs, I'll say this though, I admire their commitment to a rebuild and sucking hard because they have the foresight to see what it can bring in the future. Look at the results, they've got a good young exciting team that's a helluva a lot better than ours, and trending upwards, not downwards.

Sure they have a ways to go but a least they're in hockey games and playing an exciting brand of hockey, as opposed to the poop we're subject to.

Same, except it is the Red Wings for me. Fedorov was my favorite player growing up.

That's good, but seriously no matter what all the arm chair Coaches, GM's Presidents harp on about, this team doesn't have the talent.
Do you guys really believe that every hockey analyst that is employed to analyze every team in the NHL just uses a crystal ball to determine Vancouver's abilities.

I can just see all the analyst sitting around saying you know guys if Willie is the coach Vancouver will suck and come in last, but wholly (frank) if Jarvis is the coach well this team is playoff stock, and who knows maybe Stanley Cup contenders, seriously .

I can understand the disillusionment with WD but there's a reason why all the paid hockey experts chose Vancouver as last or close to last, and it wasn't because of the present or future coach.

- Makita

It also won't change with a sell off of assets and draft picks, at least, not this year. Nolan Patrick is not going to be a superstar for all that he's touted as the consensus 1OA pick provided we even win the lottery finishing dead last (which, by the way, isn't a sure thing). He's along the lines of a Matt Duchene, who'll be a servicable 1st line center, but certainly isn't going to lead a team to the promised land on his own.

The fact of the matter is, all our assets are so depreciated that it's far better to ride this out, let what contracts we have expire and stay the course. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, unless Aquilini sells the team to someone who has extremely deep pockets and is willing to put up with years of being in the red financially, the team is not going to rebuild the way people (that includes certain people here, the MSM and other fanbases) want us to. Aqulini has too much money invested and too much ego invested to ever accept the sort of losing that would be required.

It doesn't help that Aquilini hired Trevor Linden as his figurehead to act as his whipping boy and media mouthpiece and had him hire a rookie GM who probably with the right person to handle all the major decisions would be able to focus solely on drafting which he's done extremely well up to this point. It also doesn't help that they hired a rookie coach who isn't very good with handling lineups and line matching and managing the game properly. That's not to say that all the problems with the team are his alone to bear, far from it as so many of his players have underachieved so far, but that said, he's got to take the fall for it.

A rebuild would be great, but that isn't going to happen, not until the Sedins retire and Aquilini either is forced to sell the team or realizes that the Emporer has no clothes. One thing I've learned from dealing with Aquilini, being a member of one of his golf courses that he owns and frequents, is that he absolutely refuses to face reality and chooses to be willfully blind to his own faults and blames everyone but himself. He fired the entire staff of the golf course I was a member of, just because it wasn't doing as well as he thought it should through no fault of anyone but the economy and his unwillingness to lower green fees to match the shrinking economy due to the crash of 2008.

It doesn't have to be 1st I just want to be in the first "grouping" of players where there isn't any guess work.

We keep falling just outside

2014 = Ekblad, Reinhart, Drais
2015 = McDavid, Eichel
2016 = Matthews,Laine

Joulevi will be solid for us one day but man could we use Tkachuk right now. After Daniel or left side blows.

We agree on a lot of issues but I think you're being a bit closed minded and looking at hindsight while making your comments.

Vancouver finished 27th last year but the lottery (frank)ed them, they will be in the bottom 5 again this year and we both know the lottery will (frank) them again, speculation on my part but history stands on my side.

You can fantasize that Toronto or Edmonton are the model to emulate, but until either franchise really does anything remotely spectacular, it's just another process that works or doesn't, and if by watching the years of futility of both franchises to get to this position where you think that they're finally going to achieve something, then Vancouver is looking at least at a decade if not more, just like these two teams.

What really would he do for this team NOW? I don't see his production adding at all to the pain we're going through. Maybe won us two to three more games? Instead Benning takes the longview. OJ is the stud D we need, in the vein of OEL and according to the scouts etc he's got the ability.

We also have Virtanen who's roughly the same player, just a right winger, unless you think Tkachuk has a higher ceiling than Virtanen, then you'd trade Virtanen and pick Tkachick. The first choice in that spot was always Dubois, then Juolevi, then Tkachuk and so on. Don't forget that he plays on a team that has a lot more players who are gifted offensively and that makes him look better and not to mention he's getting a lot of time on the PP and top 6 unlike Virtanen.

This is bang (frank)ing on. This is going to take years, not 2 or 3 but 6-8 to be a contender again so you whiny female doges better find some patience or another team.

YUP. If Benning truly had a win NOW mindset he may have gone with Tkachuk, but he's playing the long game.

Juolevi was for the long term Canuck fans and signing Eriksson was for Aquilini.
