"I just tried to go low with my hit, and the league thought the same way”

-- Kadri

God I hope someone cheap shots this guy

- classic321

The league has determined that it was a clean hit, regardless of whether we agree or not, the best course of action for the canucks is to hit Kardi the exact same way. Don't bother with getting a stick in there but literally separate the player from the puck, over and over.

Looks like we need to do some flagging. Some people haven't learned their lesson.

Feel for you guys in Vancouver

Team going no where. Ownership selling wildcard or playoffs or just out of the playoffs and a 10th overall pick.

Sounds so much like my Leafs two seasons ago and before.

Stop the madness. sell off and rebuild, already! the pain has been worth it so far.

I don't know why I haven't phoned JB and told him what to do yet? I'm on it!

Nice to say, but unless he skates across the middle of the ice after holding the puck for too long you won't catch him that way - or anyone for that matter.

Kadri has been willing to drop the gloves on occasion. Best to settle the score that way

People can argue over this until they are blue in the face over where principal point of contact is. Most say head, some say shoulder, regardless the decision has been made and its final. I take more offense to the rule itself more than anything. IF player safety views this as a shoulder hit than no suspension would be warranted. I think the biggest thing is, is that no matter how you view the hit, nobody wants to see those hits repeated in the NHL, regardless of if it's within the rules. Even if it was a Canucks player hitting a leaf player in the same fashion, that is not exactly a hit I would want to say on a nightly basis in the NHL.

Everyone is talking about the play from the point of contact.

If sedin continues on a north/south trajectory, he doesn't get hit. He cut across the middle of the ice and left himself vulnerable

It is easier to brace yourself/see a hit if it is north south. That is the argument most people are disagreeing with. It is pretty hard to brace yourself for a hit when the player is coming east west (slightly behind) and follows through with a hit AFTER you have shot the puck and makes contact upon follow-through. I am not saying Kadri should be suspended or shouldn't be. This is more an argument of clarification on the rules rather than should he/shouldn't he be punished.

Kadri only sedin hit east/west because sedin is traveling east/west.

Sedin should have known better than to cut across the middle of the ice.

It's like when someone gets hit from behind. The person should know they are vulnerable and if someone cheap shots them and does hit them from behind then they shouldn't have had their back turned.

So you are suggesting we don't do a 50 year rebuild like you? I don't think we have to worry about that. There's only room for one "worse sports franchise in NA history".

Then how do you dig a puck out or away from the boards? You got to face and look at the puck at some point.

Not suspendable doesn't mean clean. He got a 5 min major for it. It was blind side and a charge.... that's not clean at all and no one officially said that.

Can we end this now, it was deemed legal, and that's it.

Personally I disagree and so do several other canuck posters.

All this is going to do is get the blood boiling again

Understood.

I like trolling. Good, witty trolling. And I hate when people get banned. But what I can't stand is the hit and run posts that essentially equate to farting in an elevator and giggling about it.

That's the depth of the humour. Those guys should be banned.

agree to disagree. I think it is more from behind and that contact is head/shoulder because of Sedin following through with his shot, which makes his upper body completely vulnerable from east west hit. Either way, it comes down to the rules needing to be better clarified and/or revised for actual PLAYER SAFETY. If the league considers that completely legal and fine, than that is not quite right based on the fact that I think Sedin was lucky to avoid injury.
