Let me see, just asking a simple question is like, "as an outsider and I don't follow the canucks, what's peoples perspective on the teams future?"

Now for a guy that admitted that he doesn't follow the Canucks, and in the next sentence calls Benning an idiot, is not asking a simple innocent questions, is out and out trolling, so I'll repeat, you post in that style and you will be banned.

Bozak is an enigma. On any other team I think he fades into the background. I mean disappear.

But yet on the leafs he's a core player who does produce. Amazing. There is nothing fundamentally good about his game yet the leafs have used him in all sorts of situations and he seems to get by.

And it's not just coaching alone. He's had a few already. Keeps trucking along.

meh, I think Bozak is a good playmaker...likes the fancy quick passes...just doesnt use the body at all and not a real dogged backchecker or anything...but in the right situations he seems to put the puck in the net/pass on the stick.

Which would lead you to believe, maybe he's an average NHL'er, no?

Bozak gets so much hate. But for a guy who did not cost anything....he's been decent.
It would be interesting to see how he would play on another team.

That will make for some funny looking plays!

I know. Both players pay for that type of hit.

Take a look at Dorothy's video again and watch him exclusively. He goes flying as well and is a bit shaky when he gets up. There are lots of chest to body checking videos out there and they all result in a train wreck for both players. When you watch those videos listen to the crowd's reaction when it happens. Place go nuts. And yet both players skate away, not carried away.

This is the exact problem with trying to remove all blindside hits. So many situations involve a hit that the guy doesn't see coming.

You can't put all those decisions in the ref's hands, and some would argue you can't take that much hitting out of the game.

Personally, I think you can take hits from behind or the blindside out of the game. If someone has their head down and gets hit from a guy they should have been able to see, that's on them.

- Aetherial

Unfortunately, the refs and league will always have to be involved because I think it needs to come down to predatory hits vs trying to separate the player from the puck.

When you hit a player high, from half the rink away, from behind, spearing, two hand chops etc, the intent is to injure the other player and should all be viewed and dealt with harshly regardless of the injury or lack thereof IMO.

There are many scenario's where a player is intending to separate his opponent from the puck and something happens to cause an injury or dirty looking hit and those calls will always be subjective.

There's no problem with Aetherial or Garnie their carrying on engaging conversations, I have taken care of a couple of leaf posters today, and Smokey is walking a fine line with his only asking a simple question Benning is an idiot comment. But he has been warned.

Thanks again for helping out Saturday night, and you will probably be needed on the 3rd of Dec, because I'll be heading back to Ottawa at 04:00 the next day, and won't be able to monitor late into the evening.

You can't lead with your chest....lol.

Should just be....blind side hit with any head contact regardless if its first or not.

- Garnie

That's the IIHF's position isn't it? something like an immediate game misconduct for any hit to the head?

Hate from the locals only.

I think for us outside the 'nation' he's just another player who keeps showing up season after season on some fanasty draft lists as a later round pick.

He produces at the NHL level and you can't knock him for that.

I wouldnt say lead with the chest, but if you check out the Doughty video we are talking about, he doesnt hit Daniel with his shoulders but more arms/chest, which mitigates the force of impact.

Either way, it would be difficult to implement and ask the players to change, probably easier to redefine the blindside terminology and outlaw that

Any openings in your leagues? Sounds like easy pickins' if a player with only C eligibility who's never scored 50 is getting drafted.

Then it takes the question of blindside hits out of the equation doesn't it? The players are in control. If you want to do it, go ahead. And the crowd will cheer as you both sail through the air...

To me that's evening the playing field for preditory behavior.

Ray Ferraro is really bent out of shape over the Sedin hit on the Radio yesterday

I think you'd be injured almost every time if you went in face 1st.

Or are we putting our arms across the chest sort of thing...hard to do when skating along side the guy when you want to ram him into the boards etc.

Eventually hitting will be gone and you'll only be allowed to rub along the boards etc...especially if concussions go up in the 5 or so years.

He avg's about 50 points/season ( when healthy)...that puts him in the top 80 or so of the league based on last year's points.

You're more articulate than I. But you getting what I'm trying to say?

I don't think you can take predatory behaviour out of the game without really changing the game completely. So let's take these decisions away from the league and back into the players hands. There has to be a more severe punishment then a long penalty or suspension.

Or change the material the body armour is being made of. Those shoulder and elbow shields are crazy.

If Kadri hit Sedin the same way Reilly hit Hansen, this wouldn't even be a discussion.
- Codes1087

The only relevant issue is not east west or north south, but rather - was the head the first point of contact.

Answer was clearly NO. NHL PS didn't even need to look at the tape, obvisouly could not be a head shot because everyone knows the Sedins have no head because they are all Hart (Well at least Hank is, but then again, TO cant tell the difference between them)

Just looked it up, not quite what I said. I guess that only applies to injuries.

83540 – CHECKING TO THE HEAD AND NECK AREA.
a)
A player who directs a check or blow, with any part of his body, to the head and
neck area of an opposing player or ”drives” or ”forces” the head of an opposing
player into the protective glass on boards, shall be assessed, at the discretion of
the Referee,
a:
➤Minor penalty + Automatic Misconduct penalty (2’+10’)
or
➤Major penalty + Automatic Game Misconduct penalty (5’+GM)
or
➤Match Penalty (MP)

b) A player who injures an opponent as a result of checking to the head and neck
area shall be assessed a ➤Match Penalty(MP)
c) Blows to the head area during a fight or altercation are covered and are to be
penalized under Rule 528 Fisticuffs or Roughing.

Criticizing the idea of drafting a <50pt centre in a fantasy league isn't an example of local hate, no matter where he's from.

An earlier post where I loved the idea of seeing him play with another team could be viewed that way.
