I’m not sure why it’s necessary to create rules to avoid all conflict.
Personal insults etc. I get. But this place will be pretty dry if anyone with a differing hockey opinion is shut out. - Tumbleweed
I'm sure most here would be ok with 'repectful' differing opinions. Problem is of course that isn't always the case.
But to be quite honest we seem to do very well here without all the 'visitors'. Threads are continually posting in the hundreds. I think we'll be ok... |

I think someone posted a decision yesterday from a year or two ago where the guy got suspended because, even though the first point of contact was the shoulder, it was determined that he just grazed the shoulder before following through to the head. If you look at Kadri's hit he definitely caught Sedin's head but it looks like there was at least some contact made to the shoulder first. I guess they decided that he got enough of the shoulder before the head rather than grazing it but I don't know how you can make that determination. Show me that hit beside the hit where the shoulder was grazed (suspension worthy) and I doubt I could tell the difference. So yeah, inconsistency is the problem here. They've painted themselves into a corner by trying to determine where the force of the hit was (which is kind of dumb luck and doesn't really speak to intent anyway). They could make this so much more simple if they just used blindside hits as the determining factor. Any idiot can look at a video and tell if someone is hit on their blindside or not. Those are dangerous hits. - Jeffmt
I think regardless of who the victim of the hit is, or who is the person dishing the hit, or what either team the players play for, no one wants to see hits like that. I don't think anyone wants to take hitting out of hockey completely so that argument doesn't matter, it's these hits in particular that need to be addressed. Whether they are "technically" within the rules of the game or not.

Naw... I don't think they give a crap is the Leafs win. They will generate boatload of revenue anyway. They have a far greater interest in making sure the large U.S. fan bases remain competitive and that the game has a presence in all U.S. regions. - Aetherial
I disagree. The television ratings for last year's playoffs were abysmal. The Leafs actually being a decent team would be great for every owner in the league because of revenue sharing. I don't think this type of thinking applies to refereeing, more like league decisions such as this. Just my opinion. The league did not make surplus last year, the NHL needs Canadian teams in the playoffs. |

Agreed. I think the rule could easily be changed to take a lot of the ambiguity out of it. |

Tony G hard on the Nucks today, called out a few of the players for their lack of response. Hate that guy but I agree with him here! - LeftCoaster

it's impossible to prevent disrespectful posts on an open forum.
you either limit posting to the extent it becomes pointless, or you tolerate and ignore the odd junk post.
this isn't your thread. it's a a team thread. i and many other 'outsiders' do enjoy passing through here on occasion. |

You can't stop posters from visiting blogs, the sure fire method is...if it gets out of hand, both blogs will be locked. - LeafMan
What about that time you banned me for a year and then you told me never to enter a Leafs thread again? |

Like I was saying before about back injuries and how they just keep coming back, hips are the same way. There are some fundamental body parts that once they get messed up they never come back 100% - NorthNuck

Does sportsnet have any stake in MLSE other than just televising their teams? |

Of course that would be the first action to take but we also can't be here all the time, some of us have kids or a wife that threatens us with certain bans if we don't get off the mobile devices or computer. |

Is this a Nucks game day thread or Leafs thread? Leafs moderators ban fans of other teams for posting anything at all in Leafs threads. Yet this Canuck thread is over run by leaf fans who say Vancouver has an inferiority complex then persist to post on stop here. Go figure. Classic Toronto. |

100% agree. Player safety needs a it of a re tool. These players don't need to sit in dark rooms once their careers are done. |

We do not ban for posting in the thread, only when it is obvious trolling. Take a look at the different team posters during the day. |

yup. Most recently, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan sold their 79.53% share of the company for $1.32 billion to a joint venture between Rogers Communications and Bell Canada, two of Canada's largest media companies, giving the company an equity value of $1.66 billion and an enterprise value of $2 billion. They own a lot of the arena's in Canada and certainly have a vested interest in people watching hockey. if the leafs are interesting more leafs fans will watch, there are more leafs fans than any other in Canada... that's my logic |
