I don't see the big surprise...did anyone see the Canucks doing well this year? Firing the coach ain't gonna help increase the talent (or lack of). As far as I'm concerned, I was expected to tank this year, and perhaps the next few. Its a rebuild.
- TBroad

Expectations were that Erikson and the Sedins would mesh better and that Loui would score goals.
Expectations were that Baertschi would continue to develop and score goals.

Those have been 2 disappointments for me.
Defense depth and Gudbranson's play have been a pleasant surprise.

Theyve finished 5th & 3rd last with the twins still here, I am of the opinion they would absolutely say (frank) it, time to rebuild.

Also, every GM before Benning have no bearing on whether or not it's time to hit the reset button, when your team is this bad you don't say I think we need to be competitive!

Furthermore, it's not the Toronto model, it's just called building thru the draft which many many many teams have done previously.

- LeftCoaster

OK, you are against the Sedin investment after the fact. So are all of us. Thats my point. After the fact. You butted heads with people(mostly Vantel) who suggested ways to circumnavigate the honor of these contracts because it would be morally wrong and heartless. That seems like your solution now. Or what is it? Because they are not getting traded.

The Pres/GM has their orders when they sign the contract with the owner and get reminded of this. The coach has to win to save his job because this team is not in re-build. It totally influences how he plays the young players as well... the helplessness of the situation is totally tied into the day the Sedins signed. I doubt they are going retire at the end of the season either.

You were quiet when the time passed to "commit" to a re-build. Now we wait, while you criticize.

But you did have grounds to question my cognitive state. I did set a precedent today.

Don't sign the sedins for another year.

If they want to pull a naslund they can go ahead and hopefully win a cup but it's time. It's been an awesome run, best canucks ever, and they will be loved always but...

And no to free agents other than 1 year contracts. Draft the poop out of the next 4 seasons.

Etem was a bit of a disappointment too.

The play of the whole forward group has been less than inspired.

If I was to take a sip of koolaid, I'd say if Sven and LE can get going, we might be able to turn this around, but the koolaid looks off and I don't want to risk it... mind you, if it has fermented, it might help deal with the disappointment.

I'm hoping this season is so bad they decide to retire this summer.

I have no problem with them being here next year, I just don't want them re-signed. I want to trade them at TDL of their final year.

The real question is what the (frank) do you do with Eriksson?

I think what you have lost sight of is that the Canucks have no assets to sell and they are already at the bottom, they are building through the draft, and the actions of previous general managers absolutely has something to do with the predicament today.

Would I approach the twins and ask if they would be willing to accept a trade? Absolutely, but they might not be up for that.

I hope that they can help our young players learn how to be NHLers. If they do that as 50 pt players it will be disappointing but I'll take any Sedin over no Sedins, considering it will be a long time until I get to see skill like that on my team.

WD is staying positive, saying they have been playing well aside from the TO game. The problem is the stakeholders don't see it that way. Tomorrow morning they will see 0-10

So the Rangers have now traded McIlrath...

Kampfer and a 7th for a guy who was on waivers like 2 weeks ago

The only problem I see is that while they are still here ownership & management are going to keep up with the 'we're a competitive team and our goal is to make the playoffs' mantra.

It's becoming glaringly obvious that the tiny bubble of owners, managers & possibly the Sedins, are the only ones who believe this.

Some here are not finding this as humourous as you, in fact it is soft trolling, and the PM's I'm getting are suggesting a ban.

Yes we have some overly sensitive fans but after the poopshow over the weekend I don't blame them for a minute. And it's been pointed out that Dozzer would have dropped the ban hammer if this was a canucks fan in the leafs thread.

No more making light of the canucks or their management, thanks.
