Heres a dirty little secret - health care is expensive because we don't get to negotiate prices before we obtain the services. If you go to the ER in Rochester, you're billed $1,600 just to walk into the ER: it doesn't matter how long you stay, and you're billed separately by the doctor or nurses who treat you, and separately again for any medicines they administer.
This is preposterous. - Der Kaiser
See that women that had the baby in the car on the way to the hospital ? She went there afterwards to get the baby checked out and received the full 7000.00 bill that would have gotten for delivering in the hospital.
And they charge extra for skin/skin contact when the baby is just born. (mom holding the newborn) |

Here's another secret:
I worked for a company that sold equipment to hospitals and the like... The mark-up was astronomical from us to them. And they just paid it without shopping around... Because we were in their "buying group".... |

How often do you get to negotiate a price for a service?
If you go for a haircut do you haggle the lady at Super Cuts?
If you go buy a box of cereal do you negotiate the price?
If you are going to the ER its supposed to be for a real reason not some cough that won't go away. |

Which is a direct relation with the cost of medical care in this country (directly related to Obama Care)
Experts note that changes under ACA could ultimately increase the growth rate of health care costs initially, since more people will be covered (and paying for) health plans and treatments. The continued economic recovery is expected to contribute, as well, as more Americans have increased income to spend on health care. - Stripes77
Stripes, I like you, but this is a word salad.
And it defies basic economics. |

There are some good picks in that class but none of the experts had them in the top tier.
If junior was expecting a franchise changing player I don't know what to tell him. Reinhart and even Bennett are not those players. Great pieces just not THE GUY. - Stripes77
Can we at least give Reinhart until he is 23-24 years old before we throw him in the trash? |

I took it from an article from ABC news. I didn't write that I should have sourced it. Private insurance is going up and it has each year since the ACA. But there isn't a direct correlation between the 2? I don't buy it.

Here is the article, what has happened is what those experts predicted |

It was going up every year way before the ACA.... |

But not by this much. I expect a $5-10$ increase in my premiums each year when enrollment rolls around, but when it jumps from $145 every 2 weeks to $245 every 2 weeks in 2 years for a family plan with lower coverage's that is a huge problem. |

When I go for a haircut I get to decide whether I want to go to SuperCuts and pay $15, or go to Matthew Henry and pay $45.00. That's a form of negotiation.
When I buy a box of cereal I can decide if I want BranFlakes at $2.50 or that crazy CHEE CHEE poop my wife buys for $4.80. That's also a form of negotiation.
Buyers of haircuts and cereal have the ability to negotiate because they have options.
When I cut my finger making quacamole and need stitches, I only have one place to go for the stitches. But it only takes the docs 45 minutes to stich me up, and I get charged the same $1,600 for ER access that they charge the guy who got into the car accident and spends 15 hours in the ER.
and ps - the reason the inexorably poor go to the ER for routine medical care is that the ER can't turn them away for lack of coverage (and private doctors who really should be seeing them can). That's why the ACA was trying to expand coverage to those who wouldn't otherwise be able to obtain it. |

Agreed. 4yrs ago my family plan was 175 a week. Now just a single plan 30 a week |

Back to hockey...
Who could be pried away from their team closer to deadline time that could jump right in the top 6? |

My wife and I are staying on separate plans for now while we don't have kids. it saves us a bot load of money ever paycheck. Which is pretty idiotic if you ask me.

I expect a Kane to Minnesota deal to happen. There is just too much chatter.
Kane to Minnesota for one of the top 4 d-men.
Though it could get bigger. Hypothetical
Kane - Ennis - Prospect
D-man - Pominville - Tuch |

And the weird thing about that is that mine has not gone up that much.... So it's not like the ACA makes every insurance company increase rates like that.
The Insurance company does that on their own...
Edit: My insurance went from $24 a week to $27 a week since 2008.. |

Reinhart is clearly expected to be a franchise player over the next several seasons but with the team's current depth at center, he could challenge for playing time on the big club right out of the gate. According to Capgeek, Buffalo currently only has eight forwards signed to contracts for the 2014-15 season
I see the word "expected" |

if your trading for a d man, there is no doubt your protecting 4 d men and 4 guys up front

No one is trashing him
He is currently 5th in his draft class in points with guys like Ehlers and Nylander out preforming him in terms of PPG, and Bennett really close
Currently preforming as the 6th or 7th best forward in that class is disappointing |

Who the hell wrote that?
Again someone's opinion on what they think the Sabres thought of him. But the actions of Murray tanking again for McEichel shows that they wanted better...not sure how you can't put 2 and 2 together here |

I'm just angry because people think that the goal that year was not to draft a franchise centerman now that we have Jack everyone saying oh we knew he wasn't that good we knew he was just a Ok player |
