4-0 Rangers in the second. Do you still believe Flames are miles ahead of us?

They had identical records to us going into tonight. We did beat them earlier this year also.

I think they are just as bad as we are

And they have coaching issues just like we do.

I would have thought that you of all people would be welcoming because of the way you were accused of being someone else.

You guys are so cruel, just because I think Lefty and Vantel are really knowledgeable, Marwood and A_SteamingLombardi are so funny, but no you guys have to make me feel terrible.

- Nuckerwhatever

Go ahead patronize .... whatever ... it's a free country ... but you took that name on created account right after Lefty posted it trying to make a joke earlier today. So have fun Don, Dshiddy or whatever....

Lefty would say they didn't build through the draft like the Oilers...

Anyway my take below as wrong or right it is who knows just my perception of what's what.

So it's always nice to have several 1OA .... a generational player and to have sucked for a decade to the point team owner was thinking of moving team to Seattle before he got new stadium and land deal package. FA already did that for Canucks so there is no saving grace to save the team if it sucks for years.

Draft well, build and develop and pick up free agents who fit the build plus make trades too for that. So if you are doing all this your team shouldn't suck for years. It would probably be competitive and try to win while building. If you aren't looking to improve then sucking for years means you are doing the opposite. Those draft picks may help but not so much if the team isn't sucking ... no development for subsequent draft picks.

Now a team can try to improve and fail. Canucks did it last couple years other then first WD year which they drafted BB best prospect to date. High picks are great but gutting a team for them is all about timing and circumstance. The Canucks are not there on the gutting. They only have a couple tradable players. But they have made several roster changes and have a much younger group with some holes and development needed.

The BB example shows drafting well matters more then trying to suck and finish in the bottom. Anyway coaching matters and many people beleive WD isn't getting it done on any level. Development or winning. As also JB making good rebuilding trades. Kassian aside he seemed to be trying that. He screwed up Hammer and Virbata had zero value I guess. So did the other vets sent to the AHL. Remember trades is giving value to get value.

So Canucks now have little to work with even more now. Unless he younger guys brought in like Sutter Guddy Baertchi should be sent packing for draft picks that won't get you much more then a reset for years down the road. That is stopping the rebuild to burn it all down. Not sure that is needed now.

Conclusion.... give some more time for the young guys let JB draft again and allow for the team to try to improve if at means trying to win ... great ... as long as they don't trade away the future of the team unless it's for a young superstar to rebuild the team around. Dam Boston for running out of them

I've always wanted the draft high model, need those top picks, just gotta be lucky enough to be a year when there's a great kid available.

I'm kind of a Vegas model kind of guy. They know what they are doing obviously.

Freidman said lots of scouts were in Buffalo to look at Kane. He got demoted from the top line as he was not playing very good. He singled out the Vancouver interest .

He said the offers to Buffalo were underwhelming. Coincidentally Virtanen returns back from the NY region. Looks like Canucks may have changed their mind

He was projected in the 160 range . For Benning to grab him at 63 rd , you knew something was going to be good about him

Benning got shredded by the 'experts' at the time for that. Good on him.

Good speed and high skill level, I like that pick. Somewhat undersized but it's a new NHL out there.

There had to have been something up there, didn't make sense. So does JV play today or ride the pine again? Perplexing.

You can't sit high end talent either, if he doesn't play why is he here and not in Utica?
