The funny thing is as bad as it may seem i genuinely dont believe it would be difficult at all to "fix it". All hed have to do is admit it was a mistake, problem is it seems like hed rather sink with ship then admit its got holes. - Sabresfan-365
Maybe, but as you and I have said, you don't make the Kane, Lehner, O'Reilly trades to make the playoffs 3 years down the road.
Playoffs are the expectation. Stop deviating from them. |

he said he wanted two drafts--2014 and 2015
he said he was going to trade picks and prospects for young vets to speed up the process
I don't remember a time-frame - Michael Pachla
He said he didnt expect a 5 year rebuild, its on that trajectory.
And have the moves actually sped up the process? compared to teams that started after the sabres? |

So the team will finally be in a position to be good 2 off seasons from now? Cant imagine thats what Murray had in mind. |

Honestly, the moment they struck out on fowler(i dont blame him for this) and settled for Kulikov(hes fine but really?) they deviated expectations. The guy who has no problem overpaying for high end talent suddenly went all darcy on us. I dont get it.
Edit: When expectations were starting to finally get serious, how funny. Having said that he could be up to something right now for all i know. |

It's amazing to me really.
2 years ago we drafted Reinhart, had a stable of decent defensemen,a ton of cap, and 3 2015 1st round picks. And now we are here? A below average team with an average prospect pool and limited future cap room |

Id have to think any move involving Bogo would bring a d-man back if for no other reason than they'd need to work out the cap/roster spots. - Sabresfan-365
Totally agree. Kuli and Bogo may not be the middle pairing we want, but that's what they are. They're both too good for bottom pairing and not good enough for top pairing. So, losing them both at the deadline puts us in a jam if we don't gets something back for Bogo. What's sucks is I'd rather keep Kuli and trade Bogo, but Kuli is the UFA to be. |

first off, how does "decent" help the situation?
secondly, who are these "decent defensemen" you're talking about? |

This is why I think evaluating, critiquing, criticizing, Murray is valid by this point. He's been at the helm 3 years and had an ocean of assets to work with. Regardless of how people may feel, I can understand people looking at the team he's built so far and saying WTF? |

I know but i was pointing out that getting rid of those guys isnt a sign of impatience. you can clear the cap now, and make the team better sooner. Seems like a win win |

I loved his plan in theory. If other big trade had been O'Reilly esque think about where we'd be. |

Yep. If he was working with nothing when he got here that would be one thing. People outside of buffalo and its fans were raving about the sabres situation, even in canada. Now its kind of just meh. |

I can't get behind that statement...the youngins need time to develop...
another thing murray stated was that he'd be introducing the youngins gradually into the lineup to the tune of one or two a year... |

Yes, the ones who aren't much worse in the standings, and the ones with better prospects and will have a ton more cap room to work with. |

which prospects are those from those two teams?
sabres have a lot of salary coming off the books next season...right now at about $48M with 14 players under contract...
Carolina is at $41M with 14 players
Arizona is at $46M with 17 players |
