Really need some more scoring out of the 4th line. Start some juggling players up and down from Utica.

Thing is we need an actual 4th line...Gaunce ain't gonna do much with Skille and Chapoo

I wish Gaunce would play a bit more of a physical game. it doesn't seem to come natural to him.

Are you dumb? Baerschi assisted on Horvats goal.

Talking about goals .... but I guess that's a handicap you don't want to burden Baer with ...

By your logic the Sedins, Edler, Hutton, Gudbranson, etc etc etc were all useless as well.

I hope Hutton and the rest of the D were watching Stecher. Very seldom will a Dman score from the blue line with a muffin wrist shot. Slap shots are best from back there. Try it once in a while.
- VANTEL

You are right .... unless it's tipped or goalie totally screened... mostly they do fire shots and get blocked .... they need better movement or try to step somewhere to blast one through. Stecher's move on Benn was classic seen him do that many times in the NCAA. It's what makes him such a dynamic player on the blue line. Plus he's quick on getting his shot off. That's another key no huge wind up telegraphing his intention. Maybe his size plays a role in that over why the other bigger Canuck Dmen can't emulate that.

it is kind of a funny name, I don't want to make fun of it because I put shamput in my hair.

when I was a kid, there was a guy down the street, middle eastern or something, and his nickname was Poopy. Everyone wanted to make fun of him until they met him and found out he was a nice guy.

Who said anything about useless ...? The post was about this goal starved team and Baertchi's role there. He is one of the key guy's to provide that and has not delivered so far. So thoughts on what is needed to get him going. LE was getting assists but not goals and was talked about even more. Now he seems to be finding the net. Baer may get there as well. I would like to see him succeed. Team needs that and it's part of his development as a reliable top 6 player.

Yeah.... reason why they like him on the wing they think he will be get more involved along the boards opposed to at center. But his size down the middle helps. If they insert JV back I guess he'll slide back there with Chaput likely coming out. Then we can all wish that JV plays more physical

GM Meetings tomorrow. Does JB get his top 6 scoring forward or will it be a LowBall Fest. Starting to think the team likes the status quo.

I share that with you. I don't know if it has anything to do with the WD situation... a lot of uncertainty and rumors rampant regarding coaching, management and soon players.

As much as I hate to say it i think management is still completely uncertain of what they have in this team and it could prevent JB from wanting to make any kind of a big move.

When folks talk about the 2nd year slump for young players, I think we are seeing it in Hutton and maybe we can include Sven in that too.

Rodin and his situation/expectations is a big unknown, to us anyway.

I want to see the club make the playoffs, but don't want to see assets wasted for a one and done playoff appearance.

Hoping for patience and riding it out.

I don't know that Baertschi should be considered a 2nd year player. His rookie season was in 2013 when he played 20 games and played parts of season that year and the following two until he played a full season with the Canucks.

He is a reclamation project that is looking more and more like the streaky scorer/tweener that Calgary moved on from, in fact he produced better in Calgary then he has so far in Vancouver.

28 pts in 66 games as a Flame
35 pts in 90 games as a Canuck

I am starting to temper my expectations for Hutton. I think he looks good, as in he skates well, handles and distributes the puck well, but he hasnt really delivered the offensive numbers. I remember hearing comments that the Sedin's wanted him to make the team last year, but then he never got the PP time.

With his defensive issues, I do worry a little bit that he may be Schultz 2.0, where he looks good but actually isnt very effective at either end of the rink. It's obviously still early though and things could click for him soon
