I honestly feel like a lot of the issues point to coaching. While there's something to be said for having a system in place, if the system is only holding your players back, is it really that smart to have said system in place?
That's not to say that players don't need to adjust to a certain system, but whatever Bylsma is doing clearly isn't working. - HonkFortheGoose
It most likely is a coaching issue, more than id like to admit. I really thought we finally got it right.
At first I wondered if girgensons couldn't play well in A system as many others have said on hb. Now im wondering if maybe its just THIS system.
ROR and Reinhart would be the only 2 that I would be worried about transitioning away from Byslma's system.
ROR was just a total beast last year and he took many of the responsibilities.
Reinhart seemed to flourish in that Anderchuck-esque role by standing in front of the goalie/net.
I feel like he over achieved with a bad team for a long time. And now that there is actually a few talented players on this team, i would like to see what he could do. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
I know right?
Life under Pegula. Promise Stanley cup, suck. Fire beloved coach. Suck. Field the worst team since 1935 twice. Suck some more.

ding ding ding
girgens played fine under nolan
so did ennis
honestly so did moulson
nelson with a crash course looked great last spring, now learning the system looks lost
I fear Murray is going to fall on the sword for this pathetic excuse of a coach
(shrug) we've beaten teams we weren't supposed to beat and lost to teams we weren't supposed to lose to.
I think what people are forgetting is that it isn't like we are getting blown out. Had we put up two goals a game over the last couple of weeks things would actually seem ok (considering the injuries). The team has actually played some decent defense. - Slump Buster
Oh you poor sweet (wo)man. It doesn't count if they TRY and play defense! It only counts when everyone is healthy!

It is a big problem. My point is that people shouldn't be swallowing swords over a 5 game stretch where we were missing significant pieces. We didn't have the talent or maturity to overcome that kind of talent loss. - Slump Buster
What? Just ask broads, we are already at he pit/tampa/chicago point and should be doing just fine. Also Eichel is our only injury.
Non existent transition game has resulted in this team just icing the puck to get out of its own end. - Sabresfan-365
You have to "open it up" to have a transition game though. Just guys who know how to pass. Where's Pysyk when you need him? That mother(frank)er knows how to make a hell of a 4 foot pass! The defensemen never even have to leave the zone. Just score all rush goals like the team used to.
I cant believe they chose to extend TM before seeing the team come together. Were they afraid of losing him or something - Sabresfan-365
I'll admit that was curious timing. But that's how they do it with coaching management. Pegula also has to money to buy him out, and there's no cap for front office/coaching. Too bad they got rid of the compensation thing, we could've gotten a 3rd round pick when he got hired somewhere else!
Reaves. Not sure if he pointed but he had a shift where he cleanly destroyed three different guys then taunted our bench. Once again we've failed to take the physical element of hockey into consideration while building a team. - Buffalo--Sabres
He definitely skated by the bench and used the blade of his stick to kind of point at guys with it.
